pay to play?
#21
The package deal for online fees is very welcomed by myself and my friends. Rather than having to commit to paying for the online fees in $10 increments further down the road, you can pay it all at once (albeit that could also have its downsides -- you have to pay it all upfront) so that you don' t have to worry about having the money for the subscription later on.

Darkwolf30 Wrote:Im pretty sure guardian lincese is the same thing as id. But as for the level question it is alot harder. My friend took 30 hours to get to level 15 on the beta.

Wrong topic, but I thought I might as well ask here rather than wasting a new topic on my question: I know that we can switch 'types' from Force to Hunter to Ranger at any time, but will each of those be seperately leveled attributes, (similar to FFXI's job-swap system) such that you can be a level 10 FO, level 5 HU, and level 15 RA on the same character, and therefore switch back-and-forth between whichever type you'd like to play as, or will we have one 'overall level' attribute and switching types only changes a few proficiencies? I hope its the first way, because the second is way to generalized as far as levels go, since someone who only focuses on being a Hunter, for example, could suddenly gain tons of power in Force abilities if they switched over to Force from Hunter and their level remained the same.

Yeah, definitely off-topic, but it does pose a decent point. I don't know which it is either, but if it's the first message you mentioned, that'll take the need of 16 characters and chop it down to 4. Tongue

You can switch your classes, into any available class (the 3 basic classes are always available, the Expert Types have to be unlocked server-side and have class level requirements) and level them up seperately but you will only get the benefits of your current class (I don't know if this is how FFXI works, I have never played it).

You can't level up Hunter, switch to Force and expect to have a bucketload of HP. But if you switch back to Hunter, your old stat gains and Hunter level will still be there, just as you left it.

Exactly, that is another reason that I asked: If the first method I mentioned is the way it works, then four characters are plenty enough to try out all the combinations (make each character a different race, and try out all three classes/types on each character) -- the only reason you'd need more is if you're really into roleplay and want to make more than one of each race, or if you have more than one person playing with that account and more than one person wants a character of the same race.

Ohh, that sounds pretty cool :O

Save for subjobs, which are a different thing altogether, this is how FFXI works ~ start out as Black Mage and get to 10, then you switch to Warrior...no matter how long it was since you were last in Black Mage, when you do finally switch back, your level 10 is still 100% intact.

Not that I want it to be a repeat of FFXI, but...I hope this is how it works, rather than the one overall level stat.

I'd have to agree there. That was one thing I found very appealing about FFXI. It also stopped any one character becoming too insanely powerful and it promoted teamwork. And if you wanted to have a great character you'd have to work hard! It also ensured characters stuck to their roles Big Grin

It works just like I said, and yes, although PSU doesn't have subjobs it does work like your Black Mage/Warrior example.

Awsome. I'll definitely be getting Pink to be a Force/Hunter combination whenever I unlock it so she'll be just like her PSO counter-part... except in beautiful PSU Beast form! That way I can do what I love best, get in the enemy's face for serious damage and aide my friends when they're in trouble.

As for the matter of the money... I think I'll ask for the $50 6 month online fee for Christmas. Tongue Get used to the game offline first. Gonna get it the weekend after it comes out cause I simply can't wait any longer.

Well now, this seems interesting. As far as I am concerned, i'll be staying offline. The amount of bull i've encountered on the GC of late, unless Sonic Team pull their act together, offline is the place I will STAY.

Extra Mode's a lot like offline PSO mode that we all know and love... but the main difference is you can't use that character online... which sucks. Sad
