Maybe Coralian computing technology was really really strange. I mean, at least Earth got quite good at computers by the time they went evil - Mother Brain was incredibly powerful.

Trust you to draw connections to Phantasy Star II. I'm quite convinced now that it isn't any version of windows this century that runs on the Vol Opt. Future Linux, perhaps, or some completely different type of OS. PSO's definitely set in the future of Earth then. *Amazed at AI's such as Mother Brain and CAL.*
