Rangers can't equip longbows?

I recently synthed a 6 star Yohmei longbow called the Hikauri online and found that my ranger can't equip the type. I have the official strategy guide for the game and it clearly states that rangers can equip B&C rank longbows for network mode. So there's obviously a misprint there. But whats the deal with rangers who cant equip a longbow?

Online, Longbows can only be equipped by Forces at the moment. When Expert Types are released Guntechters, Wartechters, Fortetechters, and Protransers will also be able to equip Longbows.

As for why, I don't really know. But Longbows are just a Force weapon online, in the same way that Cards are I guess (when they're released).

It is kind of annoying that the rangers can't equip them, but they've got so many other cool guns, its nice for the forces to have an exclusive long ranged weapon for themselves!

Rangers can equipt longbows offline, but not online. Online you can dual quipt crossbows though.

well technically a regular ranger cannot yes.
but raise your force lvl to 3 (takes like 30minutes)
and bcome a guntecher
and you will be able to use it =]

Yeah, I know, this is at least a two-month bump, but it's the top topic, so I figure it doesn't really matter.

You cannot dual-wield crossbows. You can dual-wield handguns, though.

As to the original question:

Rangers cannot equip Longbows because the weapon is too esoteric.

Think about it: A Ranger has been training for hours on end with his guns, relatively simple weapons that just require you to point the barrel at the target and squeeze the trigger. He's used to the weight of the rifle in his arms, to the kick of the shotgun, the feel of the handgun, and the rhythm of the firing machinegun. What's he going to do with a piece of curved wood?

Also, note that PSU Longbow's aren't strung, implying that great mental focus is required to form the arrow, which is done almost like casting a TECHNIC: Focus your mind, perform the somatic component (Drawing back an imaginary bowstring), and release.

There we go, a flavourful reason for Rangers being unable to wield Longbows.

You are reaching back in time. But thanks for the correction anyway. I think it was a matter of miswording. When I said "dual" equipt, I Didn't mean that you could equipt two at the same time, but I was thinking of equiping concurrently with another weapon. I stopped playing a while back so I'm not sure if that wat right either.
