Preconceptions?
#1
When you enter a party, do you find that people think you should be playing a certain class due to your race? I went into a party on Moatoob today, and I got called a n00b because I was playing as a Cast Hunter, and got told that I should play Ranger, because that was what Casts are there for =/

I've also seen Beast Forces getting a bit of aggro for playing their chosen class as well, but Newman Hunters and the like get away unscathed.

Do you think that the new Race/Class system has bought in some form of discrimination, that is rife in games like FFXI? The old System on PSO covered this, because pretty much class was good in their own right.

Those are most likely the "elitests", ones who believe there's only one best way to do things. These would similarly be the people that only choose HUcast, RAmarl, and FOnewearl/FOnewm on PSO and would focus soley on dealing out damage and killing everything as fast as possible.

Then there's people like me, who thinks just do whatever you feel is fun, as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. I mean really, what's the point of playing if you're not having fun? I wish more people could understand something so simple... you don't have to be "elite" if you don't want to be, you can just play how you feel is best.

The bashing is unpreventable... a friend and I faced a ton of discrimination on PSO just because we meleed with our FOnewearls. I'd often get yacked at because I moved too slow... well EXCUSE me if I like talking to the people I'm playing with. XD

It's inevitable in online games that there will be people that criticize you just because you do not play the same way they do, it's a part of any game, so we've just got to ignore them and let them live in their pointless little bubble.

I didn't mind too much, I was testing out my new Class B Daggers, and laughed as I merrily danced about stealing all their experience before they could land a hit. =D

It didn't really stop the abuse though. It just got louder. I turned off my headset after a bit. And then gained a level!

A happy ending for all.

Except them.

Heh.

And this is why X-Box sucks... Tongue Seriously, it's even worse when you have to LISTEN to them whine. XD

I don't see the problem games have customisation so you can play the way you want, as long as you can do your job and do it well does it matter? Give a noob a beast hunter and they will still suck. Although I have to say there's a point where it gets silly, newmen should not be huntersTongue

Just because something "should not" be one way doesn't mean it won't work. Anything can work really, even if it's not as effective as something else. Don't criticize people about how they play unless they ARE a total noob that seriously needs to learn how to play. XD

Just let people have fun, stop saying that something "should be" this way, or "that doesn't work" and so on and so forth. The right kinds of advice would be things like "putting in better materials makes it so your synthesizing won't fail so often"... ya know... tips... not "should be" and other know-how and beliefs of that nature.

Remember, they wouldn't have let any race be any class if they were unplayably bad. Do what's fun!!

Haha, this is coming from a newman force though. Tongue

Well I play as a Beast Hunter myself... but I'll be a "Wartecher" or whatever it is when they come out. XD That way I'll be more like my old HUnewearl.

Besides... it's only sheer coincidence that this is how it turned out... the combination of me loving hunter gameplay (Gotta love slashing things to bits in their face), and my cat obsession lead to the obvious choice. XD

I just went into a party, and got "look at this robot trying to be a hunter!"

and "why is that cast using twin daggers?"

I didn't anything =/ I was out DPSing most of them, as they were missing a lot. Still, it's a bit sucky that this attitude is already developing, and it's mostly coming from the Human players, who Ironically, don't really excel at anything, and make worse hunters than Casts, imo.

*giggles* Humans are becoming what were labeled as "NOOBmar" on PSO. XD Since it's the most common choice of braindead noobs. No offense to the curteous players out there who choose to be a human.
