Yes, I speak the words of heresy.
But it's true.
Like it or not, the game's improved.
I played PSO today.
It was great fun, party of four people, blitzing the forest.
But that's all it was.
Zombie like enemies walking towards you.
Memorable attack patterns. Characters that all really looked the same.
Those 4 bosses you all knew how to beat instinctively. The mighty Lavis Cannon, and Heaven's punisher.
It was fun.
WAS.
In 2003.
And it's not a good sign when an unofficial server has more players than on the official ones.
PSU is the new age for Sega, people should stop bitching about h4x and stuff, and just accept that this game is better run, maintained, and updated than PSO, and that this is truly a game worth spending your money on.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a date with a Zoal Goug. *pulls out Seva Drada*

*giggles* PSU's different, that's my way of looking at it. It's faster paced for sure. Makes it harder to just stop and gab for awhile instead of continuing the killing. XD I met some of my best friends on PSO, but a lot of them are on PSU too!
It's a new generation of the game so it's bound to be different, and that's that... it's new, it's different, it can't be a PSO replica it needs to be different to be a new game. XD Sure there's a lot of idiots on there right now... but that's what we have the forums for! To have good people to play with. I've made enough new friends combined with the old and the Ragolers that I rarely play with random people anymore, and it's great!
It's certainly a new style, so I don't tend to compare the two side-by-side. The main reason I played PSO so long was my friends, but they moved on, so I did too. I only use PSO as a chat-room now. XD So either way... both games are great, it's just that the main fun-factor... my friends... are on PSU now instead. XD

I understand that some of us have played PSO for hours and hours and hours and PSU still seems to be very refreshing, but what about no MAGs and no Offline Multiplayer and no mats? Androids can cast spells? ... No FOmars! The monsters move in very much the same way as in PSO, from what I've seen in the videos. But I'm not in a position to say much. Once they release the Formal dress and a proper robe for male characters, and Psycho Wand, I'll consider getting a copy.
Then I'll be able to judge properly. The PSU androids do look much cooler than the PSO ones...
For now it's still PSO for me. PSO!

You want to play as a FOmar?
Make a human.
Play as a force.
Wait a few weeks for the robe to be released.
And the monsters do NOT move at all like in PSO.
They have AI, however limited it may be, and some can dodge your attacks. Annoyingly so.
I was actually playing both at the same time today, and I just found PSU more engaging.
That, and I felt my character was truly unique. (brown hair omg.)
EDIT: You can already get Crazy Fomar hats. ;]
EDIT 2: And for the love of god, go 360. The ps2 and pc servers are ruuuiiinnneeeed.

A huge puffy dress will be released before long, im sure other cool ones will too, robey clothes have to come out, theyre crazy if they dont. and psycho wand is very much a definate weapon, coming to us at somepoint
PSO is great, not was, still is :p considering you still have someone to play it with, i still play it on gamecube with colohue, we both started new characters and i'm enjoying my first ever FOmarl :3
But, after playing loads of PSU, it is so much slower, and seems much smaller, in the actual levels, but getting that first rare of your characters lives, levelling up to use spells and stuff, taking on de rol le on normal, the only time hes difficult, you cant beat that stuff easily
As for PSU, it is a very refreshing game, fast pace means less time to chat, but we all do it anyway :p the weapons, although very little in unique looking and rare things are released at current, are all fun to use, the PM and synthing system is pretty cool, and the areas, the new lobbies inparticular are amazingly pretty. its very PSO, without being PSO :3

I'll agree and disagree there. for the most part, the economy is destroyed. but it doesnt make it any harder to play, my shop is easily the cheapest place to afford things from, and as such i dont have much money. but i can still buy the stuff i do need, aswell as new clothes and stuff. as for actual players, i have team psuniverse.net
Apologies to my fellow ragol.co.uk Teammates, i'm sorry for leaving you leaderless, and even more so for not getting back. but i wish you the best of luck in my absence! i miss you all! [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

aye, the economy isn't that big of a problem, really. But the main problem is that too much money makes people get bored by not having to work for anything, and leaving =[
i know plenty of people that abandoned level 70 characters on the pc because there was no challenge at all.
It's a shame really.
If only they hadn't used gameguard, or at least forced full screen!
EDIT: I reckon this game'll be spot on when they have voice support at 100%.
They're already introducing the PSO items =D
We got Kireek's armor today!

Well for a start... having a lot of money doesn't ruin anything if you use it right. =n.n= I like to spread the wealth to help others get things they need too. And there's plenty of challenge left for those wannabe uberists out there. Lets see if they find the HIVE on S difficulty solo difficult. Hmm? XD
Also... if the game forced full-screen I'd of had a fit! I WANT to be able to chit-chat with my friends on YIM while playing...

YES! Psycho Wand please! Psycho Wand has been in all the Phantasy Star games (except for ones which don't have spellcasters in them)!
They won't have the FOmar special abilities with spell power and range boosts though, nor will they have their unique animations, like the really fast Fist animation with the really fast unarmed spell-casting. It'll just be the generic male human animations.
Also, the FOmar won't be able to swap a Power MAG for a Mind MAG just like that so he won't be able to change to a meleer when he feels like it. I fear he'll just turn into a boring mage thing like in all the other games. XD Am I being far too pessimistic here?

Yeah, but it'd work really well to prevent hacking. It works in FFXI. Kinda. >_>
Except those bot users, but they get picked up by GMs pretty quickly.
Random fact.
I SAW A GM TODAY.
But my Pokéball failed and it fled. =[
EDIT: And no, you're not being pessimistic at all, you're just a fan of a class. =]
It's all good, I'm a FOmar fan myself.
But if you're into that kinda thing, why not play wartecher?
You could just switch to Melee weapons and swing that saber with the best of them! If you have a 360, I'd REALLY suggest playing the demo, it really lets you try everything!

But isn't Wartecher like HUnewearl? Lev 20 techniques instead of 30. Oh, wait! Could I switch between Foretecher and Wartecher whenever I please? That'd be so much more awesome than just a simple MAG change!
Unfortunately I don't have a games console right now.
