PSU... Better than PSO!?
#31
I looooved PSO offline.

The thing PSU lacks offline is that it forces you to do the main story, or do uninteresting free missions.

PSO had all the Montague/Bernie/Sue/Ash storylines.

Which were MINT.

To this day i have no idea what was happening in From the Depths.

I certainly liked PSO offline better than PSU's, for many reasons. I mean, offline PSU had the basic idea of online, but was lacking in SO many areas! I also liked the non-forced story in PSO better than the tedious, cheesy story with some lame-o main character in PSU. I liked being able to have my own character involved in the story offline, but now that's only possible with the online story!

PSO seemed less of a treadmill.

I applaud your argument, and even better reasoning.

EDIT: Even though mine wasn't much better. if at all. >_>

Which is better to have PSU? PC, 360 or Ps2? Im thinking of buying it but dont know which console most people have to play PSU. Yeah there are no difference between each other, though can you play online together with all 3 platforms. Thought i might ask in case.

Get Xbox 360. It's quarantined from the other two versions. Very good thing.

Also has a population of 2-3 universes in peak hours!

Thx. But now i read this topic throughly, is PSU that bad? Well not bad, meaning less offline playing like PSO where you can raise your character lvl and play it offline n online?
It looked great the game play and the fun stuff like having your own room and creating more features to your character but you cant play your created character offline then unlike PSO?

It really is great, there are just a lot of things wrong with it, and a few things that some people liked better in PSO. But really, it is great oodles of fun!

No, PSU isn't bad at all. It's like any 'sequel.'

Many people thought FFVIII was really really bad, but only because it followed FFVII, one of the most critically acclaimed games EVAR. But it wasn't at all. It was just a different game.

I'm aware I'm undermining my whole argument with this post, but this thread's gotten way more debatey than I'd hoped.

I for one, am a fan of PSU.

Granted, you can't take your character offline, but with the advent of broadband, why would you?

The online only version didn't hinder Blue Burst at all! and there's a full RPG waiting for you offline, no matter how average it may be.

Play this game for the online options, you'll be amazed. I'd say it's the best "original" MMORPG on the market at the moment, it gets away from the number crunching of Lineage 2, WoW, and FFXI, and is more just... y'know... fun!

And isn't that how games are meant to be?

If you want a good experience on PSU, be sure to join Team PSUniverse.net-X as well, some really cool people on this forum's team. ^_^

The reason people see PSU as a bit disappointing, I think, is because it has a lot to live up to.

But it's early days yet. And it's not gotten off to a bad start on the 360. Not bad at all.

Granted, PSO was lovely. But you can't say it didn't have it's flaws. Anyone remember teammates on the DC letting you die so they could rob your hard-duped Lavis Cannon? SWINES!

Hhmmmm sounds ok i suppose. Im probaly just guess here the reason i think. Its since loads of pso plays played PSO for ages and finding rear stuff that when they start playing PSU, i think they expect to find some SPECIAL WEAPONS hanging about in PSU in further stages, but there aint ( well so far i read that there arent many SPECIAL WEAPONS on the list they mentioned apart from S-Rank) Finding rear stuff is fun and fun to use like in PSO.
PSO n PSU dont seem to be far apart different in character wise and weapon and tech.
Well then again, its only the begining of that game adding stuff and so on. To be honest i wish that they still call it PSO with the same character and weapon stuff, but in PSU graphics and features and have the story go even further on Ragol or other planets or an outbreak war between some aliens coming to attack Pioneer 2. That'll be a brilliant game. Though it'll never happen. Tongue
