Worth Getting?
#11
Well androids tend to have the greater accuracy, yes. Its far better to use one for a Ranger type job. But I cannot for the life of me understand why they are no longer immune to poison/paralysis. Doesn't this just make them like every other character? Where's the individuality gone? Sad

A keyboard is now mine. Fear my fast-typing skills. I play the PS2 version of PSU.

Well thats not very fair is it?

I mean... In PSO you chose your type of character, each character had advantages and disadvantages... E.g you pick force you have bad health and defence, but your magic is powerful.

so if I have this right, in PSU you get your character you have equal stats, you can use traps, you can use magic to it's full potential... so basically you have it all??

If you class suv weps as individuality then that's cool. For me though I really can't call that being all that individual. I mean you only get to use it when its powered up, much like a photon blast. Usually this means two or maybe three times in a mission... not really a great basis of comparison for the different races.

Oh and in reply to Xylen... You can't exactly have it all on each character type. CASTs will recieve a bonus levelling up if you use them as a ranger based character but will have low mst and so therefore be weaker agains techs. Much as Newmans will be stronger if you use them as a FO. Humans will level up in a more balanced way and I'm not certain how beasts work other than I think they make decent melee type charcters. So there is a difference between the races, just not a hell of a lot. That's what bugs me about psu. Hope I've explained myself =/

On the other hand, when used, everyone else might as well be somewhere else.

It would be great to see SUVs used as PBs were. Like they could be linked together. I miss random shout outs of where your PB currently was and everyone lol-ing when a FOnewearl said 5!

Character building...offline you're boxed in to level 100, instead of PSO's 200. Offline PSU, I can get a character from level 1 to 100 in under 24 hours. PSU offline, there are barely any rare items, you have to buy them, with the exception of one or two weapons, and Whitill Wings.

PSO always will blow PSU away.

I do have to agree... But is that really the point of this thread? I mean PSO and PSU are different games. I think that's the best way to look at it. Give PSU a go and if you don't like it go back to PSO Smile

And I have already done so. In my honest opinion PSU is not at all worth the money to buy. Offline mode is laggy at times, and I can't speak for online, but I doubt it's much better. Being on PS2 means I have no access to either teamspeak or text chat. The storyline is boring, the missions are all the same, there's no excitement in it. There's no skill required to beat anything, you just go up and keep smashing the attack button until whatever you targetted is dead.

If your character dies, you lose all unsaved progress. PM feeding is painfully slow and serves little purpose. The limit to techniques and Photon Arts are very annoying, especially since deleting a levelled up one then getting it back later reverts it to level 1. There isn't enough customization for characters. Weapons are boring and not thought out properly.

Meseta earning online, from what I have heard, is painstakingly slow, and it takes a long time to earn anything significant. There are no extra difficulty levels to prolong the game's life.

I think that's all.
