online folder locking and password protection programs.
#1
the title says it all. I'm looking for one because I can't remember all of my passwords so I have to write them down. so I've been looking for a free folder locking program or one that puts password protection on it so in the case that I lose the flash drive a random person can't use the files on there. encrptors will work too but they have to be free and it can't be something where you have to give information like your name, address, home phone etc. because I found one that sounded great but you had to give out all that stuff and I'd rather not. also I'm sorry if somehting like this has already been posted but 48 pages is too many to look through

thank you for your cooperation
RIP nomercy.

Unfortunatly i don't know, but have you ever tought of using reminders instead of encryptors, you know, something that will instantly remind you the pass.

what do you mean by reminders? if you mean like a hint well unfortunately most sites don't have those.

You can store the hints on a txt file i guess.

Why do you want to bother?

You'll be required to password the files anyway.

Short answer is, there aren't any. There isn't a large demand for such a program nowadays, so the ones that do exist are old, and haven't been updated.

Why do you store passwords on a flash drive, anyway? It seems like a rather redundant thing to do.

You could also just right-click the file you're trying to block, click properties, then security, and disallow read/modify for any other console than your home computer. Of course, that would defeat the point of using a flash drive, but the same is easily put forward by using a locking program, as you can only access the locked files on a computer that has the correct software to decrypt said files...

And also, anyone who has the same software that you use to encrypt the files could easily decrypt them just by using the main interface, typically.

Maybe it would be best for you to stick to one or two passwords that are easy to remember.

will the oldness be a problem. I don't really care so much about the age of a program as I do about the effectiveness of it. if there really is no good solution then thank you for your responses.

If it was designed before Vista, then you most likely will run into compatibility problems.

The oly way i can think of is to zip or rar your files, give a password to it and then uploading online, even if the ppl can access the files, they still need a password to extract the files.
