There should be a thing under CP, as Rena stated, Add/Remove software. Use that to uninstall/remove crap from your computer. I do it when I'm bored.

I do that, but with the Task Manager. I end random processes to see what happens... I tend to end up without a start bar though.

my problem is I'm not sure what I'm going to use so I've only deleted a few programs. hasn't really done anything effective. my computer is still slow which is unofortunate for all my online games

You know, the amount of programs isn't the problem - the problem lies in a few areas.
* PROCESSOR SPEED - This is important, as it denotes how fast your computer is able to run the actions you ask it to. * ACTIVE PROGRAMS - Use the Task Manager to look at what processes are running when you're trying to play a game, as many programs will run in the background. Also scan your computer to get rid of viruses and trojans, as many of those cause a severe slowdown. * PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS - This is rather arbitrary. If your computer is running the bare minimum required for the game, you'll notice quite a lack of quality. If possible, try and lower the settings for the game/s you want to play and see if that helps. * INTERNET CONNECTION - Lets be honest. If you're planning on playing an online game, i.e. one that has a lot of interaction with other users, which is also rather heavy on graphical interface, you need a strong internet connection, preferably one that isn't wireless, as wireless in itself causes a slowdown due to the waves that transmit the connection to the receiver. ![]() If I don't know what lies beyond Desire is now the one in control Am I strong enough to not ever know just what I'd find? I just ran xoftspy on my computer and it picked up 171 viruses. I'm betting these have something to do with it.should I just use killdisk to write zeroes t the drive and get rid of them or hunt them down one by one and do it myself? also if I do the latter then is there a way to make sure they're gone for good? will deleting the programs do it?

That's half the problem, most likely... ParetoLogic XoftSpy has literally little to no good reviews, and it's widely-known that the program itself has spyware within it. Your best bet would be something like AVG 8.0. It's free, and has an actual virus vault, which allows you to find and isolate the problems automatically, as opposed to XoftSpy's massive list of things that generally mean nothing to a layman.
