Hey!
I really like Miyazaki's cartoons. I saw Spirited Away in the cinema, and it's probably my favourite. Also, I watched Totoro the other day, I really liked it, but it was in Cantonese (with a running occasional commentry/translation from my girlfriend and her mother) so I probably didn't quite get all of it.
So, what do you guys think of Miyazaki?

Spirited Away? Isn't that the one about a horse? I think Ralphs (the supermarket chain) tried to give me a couple of free tickets for shopping there. Anyway, the animation looked fine, kinda like Lion King or something to that effect, but I don't have a lot of exposure to Miyazaki's work.

Erm no.. it's not about a horse at all...
It's about a young girl who gets transported to the spirit realm.
I recommend you all see it as soon as you can, it's amazingly good!

I saw that movie in the theater. It's one of my favorites! I've also seen Totoro, that's a good one too. I wanna see Princess Monoke(sp?), but I haven't gotten around to getting it. All in all, Miyazaki is an awesome anime creator.

Whoops, wrong title. No horses. I know which one you're talking about now. I actually saw the first half of that, but then lunch ended (I was at school). I really want to see the end of that movie. It was kinda weird, but cool. And that other movie is spelled Princess Mononoke, I think. I have that one on my Netflix queue list. It's about 65th, though, so I won't see it for a LONG while.

Princess Mononoke is good too, though I must admit I really prefer Spirited Away.

I've never seen Monoke yet, but it's on my list. Still, Spirited Away is definentally the best movie I've seen so far.

I know this thread is old but ive only just found it! :ponder:
Spirited away has to be one of the best animes i have ever seen. Still even though i mustve watched it about 237 times i cant get tired of it, i keep finding something new every time. Ive also seen my neighbor totoro subtitled version and it was brialliant too, i just get so involved i would actually give up a day out just to sit at home and watch these films
The only other Miyazaki film i have seen is 'Laputa: The Castle in the Sky' and that again, is pure imagination. I wish i had a wider vocabulary to describe these films but alas i am a dumbass hehe... take my word for it they are brilliant.

I really enjoyed Spirited Away, Miyazaki's artwork is often critcized because the characters look too "western" which is bullshit but hey...many people like it so who cares what the few oddballs say.
