A New Theory?
#1
I haven't read anything on this yet, but last night I was playing PSO wand was thinking, maybe PSO knows when I'm playing, maybe this is why I keep getting the same beat time everytime I play(I play every day after work-at the same time-918 is around the beat time I get every day)? Well, I decided to try something. I quit PSO, and changed the time on my GC about 6 hours ahead. Started up PSO, and BLAM! beat time of 157. I changed it again, BLAM! 423 beat time.

So all in all, anyone else try this, or is this just a fluke?

isn't beat time just the time in pso so you don't have to worry about time zones?

Thats what I thought. But then I was thinking, why is it that every time I play, its the same beat time? Maybe its reading the time on the GC and doing some crazy mathamatical(sp?) adjustment to it, then use that as beat time.

This is just a theory, something I thought about to change the beat time in PSO, so if your bored, give it a try. See what it does for you. I would like to hear you responses.

Beat time is something developed by Swatch IIRC. It is a global time that ignores time zones to allow everyone to have one time regardless of their location. As the beat time is over 24 hours like our time zones are, you will find that if you play at a certain time, the beat will always be the same.

I believe your offline beat time is calculated using the internal GC clock, but the online time is worked out by the servers. As the only thing the beat time affects is the special of the Heaven's Punisher and the ATP of the Morning Glory, changing your beat time will have little effect on your gaming experience.

I meant in Offline only(not online YET). Sorry, should have mentioned that. But changing my beat time this HAS effected my gaming exp. Ive gotton different weapons, more PD then I wanted(no use for em offline) and my drops are all different and no more disks(thank god). Ive already gotton Demolition Comet, Cure/Freeze(I know its a common drop, but ive never got one), Red Slicer and DB Sword in about 4 hours of playing; and I just did this yesterday.

If you wish to see whether this beat time does in fact influence your drops, then I would try doing it more scientifically and record your findings after a lot of researching.

Having said that, no-one has ever managed to prove a beat-time/item drop theory and there isn't anything in the game code to suggest that such a thing exists. I think you will come to find that it is merely luck (real life, not the game stat) that is influencing the drops, but I like to try and have an open mind, so feel free to prove me wrong Wink

This theory is incredibly unlikely to be accurate as it would make rare hunting far too easy and is not in the game's programming.

You can work out your beat time using this.

i say the beat theory is false. sometimes i can find lots of rares in a short period of time others it takes like 3 hours to find one rare. and i aways play at the same time of the day
