ps2 trouble

i am being given a ps2 but theres a probelm with it it wont read certain ps2 and wwe dvds is there a way to repait it and how and the discs it wont read are the dvd roms

Well if it's one of the first PS2s made, it could be defective like a lot of the early ones were. They worked for about a month and then broke down easily. Another thing is the DVDs you have might not be the right Region for the PS2 DVD player. Region depends on where you live in the world. Then it might just be getting old and need to be repaired. If it's just that, call Sony and ship it to them and they'll fix it for around $25.

Ahh, the infamous disk read error. Why is the PS2 ruined by being so defective? . If any PS2 owner is honest, they are all going to break down on you sooner or later, most last around 18 months. I started getting disk read error a few months back, it comes up when i try to play some DVDs, and blue bottomed PS2 titles. It doesn't play MSG Substance either, which is bloody annoying .

Anyway, you've got two choices, you can either sent it back to sony along with £60 and they'll send you a refurbished one (if it's inside the warranty period). Or, you can do what i did, take it apart . Theres a ton of websites which tell you how to 'tune up' your machine, i tried it, and some games run a little better, but i still can't get those annoying blue bottomed games to work, or Metal Gear :'( .
