kikio was the gaurdian of the sacred shekon jewel, inuyasha, was never "cursed" but he is only a half demond, upon hearing about the powers of the jewel that could grant his deepest desire: to become a full fledged demond, a dark sorcerer named narouku also wanted the jewel to use for his own desires manupeleted kikios love for inusyasha and with that kikio shot an arrow into inuyashas chest "killing" him realising that narouko was behind everything kikio destoyed the jewel and scattered its fragments all over the world.
50 years after inuyashas "death" the re-incarnation of kikio-kagome, stumbles upon inuyashas world, after taking the arrow out of inuyashas chest kagome and inuyasha set off to look for the jewel shards. in their travels they come upon many enemies and companions: miroku the monk, songa the demond slayer, shippo the demond, meoga the flea, and kiwawa a strange animal who i dont exactly what it is.
inuyasha and his comrads set out to gather the jewel fragments and kill naruku who has screwed each of inuyashas comrads in one way or another.

in a nutshell that is the story of inuyasha composed by the one and only..........
