alternate costume...?

recently online (xbox) i saw a guy whos costume was Tails from Sonic
his name above him was also yello instead of the regular white
i was thinking it was probably hacked but how could he hack his name to be yellow like that
is it some kind of easter egg costume that Sonic Team put in? if so then how do u get it? and is there more besides Tails?

today i saw some one as knuckles and his name was red
so now im thinking this is definitly an easter egg costume

It's simply a hack. NOT a costume. I believe they used an AR code to alter the character's appearence. And usually can/is only done in private servers.
