Kefka Wrote:Well, the only reliable I see regarding drop rates is heyf00l's, quoted by Archer, it's not perfect, but by far the best out there.j00 don't wub PSO-ED? :'( heyf00l's are awesome for their easy to follow format. However, a program called PSO-ED that is found on my clan's site has arguably more accurate and in-depth drop charts (box drops for example).

I noticed a little imperfection with the drop charts in that they seem to be horribly misleading...
Consider for a moment the Pinkal Pal Rappy drop rate for Agito 1975. To the untrained mind this could imply that a player will find one Agito within twenty-one Pal Rappy appearances... I therefore take a FRACTION and convert it into a PERCENTAGE, which while being messier is a lot less misleading and also adds a sense of realism in that most stuff has less than a 1% chance of dropping (or in the case of a theory possessed by a friend of mine, less than a 1% chance of the program allowing drops to actually allow the item to drop).

Yet in the drop rate you mention the fraction when converted to a percentage is 4.762% (which is quite a bit more than 1%). Heyf00l did use percentages at one point, but fractions are more accurate, as the conversion to percentage leads to a huge number of decimal places. The actual drop rate for the PINKAL Pal Rappy is 1/21.3 iirc.

OK, just because something is a certain percent, doesn't mean that you have that chance of finding it over a spread search.
Let me explain: A percentage is 2%. (That gives me a 1 in 50 chance.) I have 50 identical cups upside-down, and only one has a ball underneath. My chance of finding the ball from just one guess is 2%. I didn't guess right. (This is the equivalent of not getting a rare.) I try again, but with a new set of 50 cups. Therefore, I still have a 2% chance. I can try as many times as I want with new sets of 50 cups, but the chance of finding the ball will always stay as 2%, no matter how many times I guess. Remember, the game does not remember how many times you've not got a rare. Hope this explains, and doesn't baffle.

Not ALL STUFF. Also, how is a fraction more accurate? A huge number of decimal places just seems to add precision. A 1/21 fraction could be anything between 1/20.5 and 1/21.5 whereas 4.762% could be 4.7615% to 4.7625%. Much more accurate...

I think what he meant was that it would be alot less inconvenient, but then again, I may be giving the guy too much credit.

Not ALL STUFF.I am aware that you said most stuff, but assumed that your example would actually back up what you said... I meant that in something as commonly used as his charts, he had to use small numbers so people weren't too confused by it, so the percentages used were more inaccurate. It would be most accurate to have them listed exponentially or so Sounomi was always telling me, therefore her rates were probably the most accurate. I really don't see how 1/21 is more misleading than 4.762%. Both seem to be quite a high chance to me. Perhaps you would be happier if our drop charts said 4.7619047619047619047619047619048%?

It would be more accurate, but it would be insanely inconvenient, most of the numbers on drop charts are made as vague as possible, for both the convenience of the person reading the chart, and for the person who doesn't have to type 40 numbers to define a drop rate.
