It's incredulous how many people over there have never seen hacks, I can't imagine it. BTW, in many cases seeing a dup is no different that seeing a legit item. since you can take a legit and make 20 duplicates to pass around.

ep3 is alot more fun online. ofline gets boring very quickly i see ep3 as a very social kinda game

If it's important to you to make sure that you don't get hacked or duped items from your friends it would be wise to educate yourself on what to look for to aviod them.

It's a pretty tall order to come up with all the scenarios. I've seen a very good piece on it, but it's not around where it used to be. I've asked some of the creators to send it to me, I'll PM it to you if I get it (since it's another board).
But to at least give some pointers (I'm only familiar with Xbox, gamecube does have some differences):
1) check the drop rates. Some "rare" items are common enough to certain classes, Gae Bolgs, Varistas, etc., others are very rare and only a fool would give up a great item that they may never find again. Sealed J swords, just about any S-rank weapon (lettering always in red) Nug bazookas, stand still shields, and so on. Also if the item is found at a higher level than the character. There's a good chance that it's not legit.
2)Some items don't exist. Unsealed "j" sword used to be the most hacked item in the game. Photon spheres, weapons with %ages higher than 100, mags with more than 195 in any category or higher than 200 overall don't exist. Red Rings don't exist on xbox, I heard that they do on cube but are probably hard to get.
3) "Legit" wepons that have very high %ages. I've never heard of anyone finding a weapon with 100% anything, although it's probaly not entirely impossible. No one is going to give away a weapon with 75% hit, for example, because they'd probably never find another again. Also remember that the hit %age is the only one that you can't add to. Any weapon with good % in three areas, say 30% Abeast, 42 % dark, 20% hit would be foolish to give away.
4) Even non -rares can be duped. I have a number of 9 star non-rare weapons that I've added %ages to that some duper want to "borrow".

thats long... Hacked Items I fell are bad to use, and they also stink. but duping is fine. It's being friendly without being unfriendly twords yourself. If you really wanted to give someone an item ((and it was really REALLY rare)) but you only had one of them. you'd dupe it. at least thats what i would do.
