If your German, I think it's slightly easier....
From the little German I know, it seems a lot similar to Japanese than English.

GCSE stands for "General Certificate of Secondary Education". It is the most commonly achieved level of education at the end of compulsary education over here (Age 16).
You require decent GCSE's to get into College/6th Form (Age 16-18 usually) and then from there you progress into University (18+).

Oh. I don't believe we have GCSE's in America. Or maybe we do, I have just never heard of them regardless.
