Tales of Phantasia

Has anyone played the original PS version of this? Someone introduced me to a non-official translated oldest version of this game on an emulator, and I liked it a lot.
Now I've been told that they just released an anime of it! If it ever ever gets translated into English, I'm going to buy it no matter what.

i played the dejap translation of the snes version one of my favoruite rpgs of all time and yeah they are making an anime it will be intresting to see how the tedh spells and summons will look like and the important battles such as dhaos 1

Ummmm...just to be sure, but are you talking about the original Tales of Phantasia on the japanese super nintendo? Because the original playstation game for the tales series was Tales of Destiny. As far as the snes one goes it was pretty impressive considering its age, but I still prefer the original Tales of Destiny on the PS. If you havent tried it I'd definitely recommend you find a copy.

And about the anime, the one I've seen is called Tales of Eternia. You can find a downloadable fan-sub of it on animesuki.com. If you like the tales games you wont be dissappointed...its a good show!

Tales of Phantasia was the very first 'Tales of' game, for Super Nintendo. There were two remakes and neither got translated:
the Playstation remake version (which is supposed to be nearly the same but with a few more sidequests and redrawn sprites)
the GBA remake which was released last year (similar to playstation version).

I found out a bit more about the TOP anime. It's 4 episodes long, and the trailer looks like many cutscenes rolled together. They've even managed to grab the original voice actors from 10 years ago!

Tales of Eternia is the first sequel to TOP and has different characters from TOP, right? Thanks for the link. I'll remember to download it when I get proper broadband. I've only played TOP so far, and even three years later, I still can't get enough of the game's soundtrack... *Rambles on*

Very well said! And the anime I put a link for is loosley based off of Tales of Destiny 2 on the PS. But in reality, Tales of Destiny 2 was originaly Tales of Phantasia 2 in japan, but they changed the name for some reason...

All I know is that it has the same animation style as Tales Of Symphonia. I've not played ToS yet.

I've watched the ToP episode 1!!
When I was searching up information about it, I found out that a site called "Phantasian Productions" had fan-subbed it. Took me 48 hours to get it (stupid slow connection)(you can tell that I don't normally download anime), but I loved it! It was just what I thought it would be like: extended cutscenes. Plenty of eye(and ear?)-candy. Go watch it, fans of the game.

..More or less. I played the old Tales of Phantasia. I can honestly say that I liked it more than Symphonia. Then again, I have always been a sucker for the classics. And Sekundes, but whatever, that doesn't matter. If there is an anime I would buy it without a second thought, most indefinitely. I loved the game.
