a form of mental telepathy not magic or anything like that but the ability to affect enemies before they even know youre there

How about elemental breath attacks that work like firebreathers in the circus or something that materializes breath, like a photon bubble wand.

And the ideas roll on...

Well...I don't know if this is creative or just abstract but it would be interesting if your mag could actually be used as a weapon. You could have a pet command to sick it on enemies. Or even better would be weapons that could merge or combine with your mag to make a hybrid weapon based on which mag you had.
