Time to recogize!

What you will find is if you do not relax the rule slightly and let people have a bit of a laugh, and im not talking about a 6 page epic, this forum will rapidly caese to be a forum and will become more of an interactive FAQ. I think you should ask other members what they want before telling them what you think will benefit them.

"for the benefit of all of Ragol.co.uk forums users."

Let people speak for themselves, and let people speak. I think that if even the general chat section has been pretty limited, its time for people to speak out against that. Dont get me wrong, the mods on this site do a great job, but you have to keep an eye on such a wide variety of threads you often make set rules that you should perhaps change in certain instances. You either need to find a way to very slightly relax the rules, or you need to recruit more mods... *looks at Gotien* Wink

Im glad you agree with me on this however that last wink could be seen in a really really... bad... way. lol Tongue

See! Even that would be concidered off-topic and probably would've gotten the dreaded "Topic Please" when mearly I was directing a comment at Anti Hacker so that he felt that we are all not just contributing to a topic for others but are actually to talking to one another, that we are not just playing the role of NPC's for others but are people that can interact with one another. I'm just asking for some change, it's time this forum evolve a bit beyond the standard so we can be different and set examples for other forums. That is also a goal right? To be better in some ways to attract more new members?

Hrmmm I never noticed this ~_~

Well I know for sure latley I've been letting it get to ooh lets say 5 off topic relpies (that's if it's all spammy or way off topic). That was before I read this thread Tongue

I fail to see the relevance of this topic to your letting others spam. You obviously are joking or trying to make youself you "un-itellegent". The point of this thread isnt to let spam go, but to add to the topic so that spam is delt with by setting an example, rather than confusing others. Why is it that I dont see the connection between you learning anything from this thread and you actually using it to improve the forum? Maybe because I am pessimistic.. or perhaps I don't see you changing for the future. Either way this should not be taken lightly, something must change or I see that members that are unhappy will start to leave. A horrible outcome for this site, I assure you.

-_- i dont see this arguement ever coming to an end.

'Topic Please' are 2 simple words asking people to change the way of a thread that has gone drastically off-topic, back to the discussion it should be about.

I have not been as active as i would like to see every thread and its activities held within. Moderators are there to guide the thread back to normality if needs be. If the words 'topic please' are stated after just a couple of posts that have nothing to do with the topic of the thread, its only because they are afraid of what will happen to the future of the thread. The last thing we want to do is close threads, but we do because its just gotten ...stupid!

If you'd like them to change the way they say it into a more friendly manner, then its those moderators you should be asking personally - although the purpose remains the same. All of our moderators on this forum are chosen because they have shown that they are dependable people, reliable in keeping these forums in the shape they are today, and aren't going to eat you alive if you dislike them or ask them any questions, so free feel to talk to them about this subject and i'm sure they'll be happy to respond ^_^

Now, now Lee Yoshi... The reason I started this thread is that I have been recieving disconcerning reports from members about the SITE in general, not just a single moderator or a single administrator. I am only speaking for those who are too shy to step forward as is said by my unofficial title of "Gojin Shourin" the "Heavenly Protector" I must make sure that thier concerns are delt with before they are forced to choose between suffering through uncomfortable situations and circumstances or leave the site for other activities.

I suppose I have been showing the wrong intentions and have confused you slightly. I am no longer here to help contol and better the site. I am here to make sure that the members are happy as they look up to me as much as they look up to you, at this point. On a daily basis I get people IM'ing me on Yahoo about questions that they do not feel like looking for, or to better know "Gotien, the Legendary Champion".

I was hoping at the beggining of this thread that I could have the admins and mods at least try my theory however if you are sticking to the statement of:

Lee-Yoshi Wrote:'Topic Please' are 2 simple words asking people to change the way of a thread that has gone drastically off-topic, back to the discussion it should be about.

Then I am forced to believe that the moderators and administrators lack the ingenuity and skill to both read and reply to topics in a manner that will keep them in balance of relevant post, of which I do on a daily basis... It is simple, instead of topic please, just post something on topic, that is all I am asking. They will get the idea! Even if you have to say "Topic Please" at the end of your post. I just hate the irony of the fact that you are saying "Topic Please" in which is horribly, irreversibly off topic and it makes every moderator and administrator look that much less competent in my eyes when it happens... can you see my point now? Or shall we continue to elaborate further?

It appears we're both fighting for the last word in this discussion.

The solution:

Gotien Wrote:It is simple, instead of topic please, just post something on topic ... Even if you have to say "Topic Please" at the end of your post.

Lee-yoshi Wrote:If you'd like them to change the way they say it into a more friendly manner, then its those moderators you should be asking

...When you next see the words 'Topic Please' or similiar, you have the opportunity to tell them there and then. Just ask them and they'll happily comply to your request now and in the future. No more action is needed as i hope most of them will have read this thread, and it can be done from now as they know they're going about it in the wrong way.

Thank you for your feedback ^_^

I was the first/main person to just say "topic please". I did it because I was getting fed up of saying "please get back to the topic at hand". Yes it is kinda harsh and blunt but imagine saying it all the time (even relaxing the rules, you have to say it sometimes). You soon get fed up of saying it.

In relation to the above quote, as I mentioned to DM, we can't really be forced/expected to contribute to the topic every time we actually want to get back on topic, can we? What if we've already replied/commented/voted? Just leave the topic to go off-topic or duplicate our reply?

I do concede that we might be a bit harsh, but every now and then, we get an influx of new members, some who don't know the rules too well. And we just get some topics that are duplicates/spam. So every once in a while, we need to have a 'clamp-down' on this so it doesn't always happen.

I think my and Sol's stance on spam has always been clear. I personally hate any type of spam (email, forum, RL). The Void has always been a dumping pit for spam but never actually for creating blatant spam.

I've pointed Sol in the direction of this thread, so we'll wait for the 'all-mighty' Sol Wink Tongue

Hee-hee, I just posted to get the last word in this thread, and the word is:

RELAX!

This debate is almost a never-ending one, so just let it be... Gotien and LY have valid points, and it is true the T.P requests HAVE been a bit much recently, but that is because there have been more newbies recently. I am certain that Sol and the others would not like a forum over-spammed by newbies, hell! I wouldn't! But, as I said above, it's true about the over-use of T.P requests.

Phew, that's enough from me!

So remember Gotien...LY...Relax...

No offense DM but... please stay out of this one. Talk about spam you are mearly adding useless info, I want this topic (even when locked, as it soon should be) to be something others can look at and understand the moderators/administrators' purpose for holding topics in line. So that they can just link to this topic and have the FAQ's answered as quickly and easily as they appear.

@Lee Yoshi, sorry I didnt fully understand what you were trying to say. I thought you ment for me to PM each individual moderator and administrator to tell them to change. However responding to their "Topic Please" post and presenting my request there would be great, I should've seen it, my apologies again.

@Decswxaqz, I completely understand that you can't be expected to reply to EVERY thread that you do and relate completely, however even something vague, "like weapons are unique" (relating to my earlier example). You say that you can't do that to every post, but could you try to do it every once in a while? It might be a nice change. I do it every day when I see the same build up of spam from day-to-day. As you may have noticed majority of the time a moderator tries to call a "Topic Please" I have already brought the spam to a hault and have to inform the members that we are on topic and conversation can continue without worrying being in trouble.

Well, I await Sol's judgement on the issue and both of your contributions. As per this moment you have earned a great deal of respect in my book Wink
