piping hildeltorrs in pso+
#1
i was trying to think of any place that could be better than forest of sorrow to pipe for hildeltorrs. then i remembered that central dome fire swirl had four at the end and they jumped down quicker.

i only had this quest unlocked with my ramar (on pso+) so i did it and went to do the extension on the quest. when the four hildelts jumped down i piped leaving the fonewm npc there, dead. when i piped back i heard some screeching "wee-whoo-wee-whoo" sound on the loading screen and when i got back to forest, they guy was completely gone. the four hildelts still jumped down, and you could get a great view of them. after piping 10 times i quit the quest because i didn't know what that sound i heard was. after i saved, i load up my game again and i still had all my money, items, etc and i didn't corrupt becuase of it (thank God).

so this place seemed to be a better place because: a) you get a better view of the hildelts and b) they jump down quicker

but it's worse becuase: a) you get locked in the room, b) the npc disappeared (no idea what happened), and c) i don't know if you can find hildeltorrs in that room because i didn't pipe enough to check

if anyone has any knowledge of piping there, please post
Too legit to quit.

hmm, that's interesting, I've never tried piping for hildetorrs in Central Dome Fire Swirl. Did you finish the quest? if so, what happened when the npc who's supposed to be there isn't?

i didn't finish it becuase i didn't want some glitch to happen and corrupt me. i went to the guild counter and quit the quest. that could be avoided if you revive the guy before piping the first time. (when the hildelts jump down, the npc instantly gets 2000 damage and dies)
Too legit to quit.

so if you revive the npc, do you save him? or do you have to defeat the hildelts to save him?

if you revive him, he'll start beating up on the hildelts unless he dies again. but the quest won't end if he dies again. you'll just need to use another moon atomizer (or reverser)
Too legit to quit.

but if you go back to pioneer 2, does he follow you there?

I found my first Hlideblue there. One thing I found out is that many more enmies are multiplied in Multi, e.g., 2 Nanos in a room, then 2 more in same room. I would do it in the Central Dome Area, because you can score two at the same time and keep your distance from them so they won't jump or Megid you.

updates:
- the crazy sound it made the first time i piped, didn't happen this time :S
- when the npc dies he gets thrown halfway across the map, and you can't revive him, and he will not return to pioneer 2
- if you pipe back, when you return to forest, he won't be anywhere at all and when you kill the hildelts, his speech about the project will be skipped
- you are not locked in that room with the hildelts, there is a switch i missed
- hildeltorrs appear there, it took me 32 pipes (11 minutes) to find one, averaging 20 second per pipe, FoS takes more like 25 sec/pipe
- best place to stand: near to the west door (one that doesn't go to the long, big room)

does anyone know what quests you need to beat to unlock central dome fire swirl? i had beated all the quests with my ramar before i bought pso+ and when i first played pso+ it was on the list. i have beaten a few assorted quests to unlock it with other characters, to no avail.

also, can forces use spell casting weapon specials in that level? i plan to get a rainbow baton by piping hildeltorrs there, but my redria is a fonewearl and has no atp. i have the bear canes, sigh of a god, technical croizer, elysion, and caduceus and i would need to use these to do any actual damge.

beat all of the quests and it will appear. I think. Smile

I'd rather do Forest of Sorrow, it's much easier to do with your "secondary" characters, especially if you don't play them much and only plan on using them to pipe the Hildetorrs, plus Central Dome Fire Swirl sucks for forces.... Wink

I believe you can use "free" techs via weapons like Technical Crozier, etc. But once you beat the first part of the quest you can use techs (I'm sure you already know that) Tongue

Thats what makes Hildeblue Cane and Technical Crozier so good for this quest.
Problem is high MST requirements.
