simply because plus already allows you to use data from another version of the game so in theory it actually mimics the info from the memory card

doesn't work. i played around with 3 memory cards an my plus version for a while a few weeks back, and wasn't able to do anything except create the temp char copies that don't have items (only techs, levels, and stats). you are unable to transfer any temp characters to any memory card except the original one and only then if you have not canceled the "transferred status" on the original card.

you need to use some sort of usb memory card like SilentBob said, but i don't know the details.

Man, this does suck. I just got my first party memory card last night so I could test this out and also at least save my items, but I figure the only thing I'll be figuring out is how to create a new file and give it my items. Say, with all you people that got coruppted too, was it on a third or first memory card? Thanks. I'm only a level 29! So I guess I'm pretty lucky that I got you guys on the fourms and my good friend A.S. to tell me early.

Oh dear... I feel so sorry fo you, I had loads of data on a third party memory card, almost everything on SSBM, Metroid Prime 22% from renting it out, and a hell of a lot of other stuff, them Billy Hatcher comes a long and wipes everything. Evil. Now I have two first party memorycards, one is 251, and all 9 characters are on them (yes nine, Sanga nad a friend were a bit stupid and got a character stuck on temporarily moved) so because I have first party memory cards, does that mean I will not get corrupted? because If I don't I'm bloody happy, and anyone who hasn third party, It's worth the cash!

Well, the thing with corupption is that on third party memory cards, a game can coruppt for no reason what so ever. Also telepiping like, 100 times can coruppt third party data too. Now, with first party cards, the thing that coruppt them are pulling out the memory card whilst the game is saving, or turning it off then. Also FSOD and BSOD on first and third data can coruppt the files. In case you didn't know, FSOD is some sort of hacking technic someone can do online to hack into someones game. BSOD is when someone kills you when your telepiping. FSOD and BSOD can only happen online so as long as you stay offline you can avoid all SODs. (FSOD Fozon Screen Of Death) (BSOD Black Screen Of Death) That pretty much all of the ways of coruppion. First party data doesn't coruppt for no reason and on first party data you can telepipe as much as you want. Thats all.

If thats the case you probably cancled the transfer after the multi player session. Right? Then you lost all of your items. Cause if so, theres a way to fix that.

1) Go multi player with the memory card that has the temp data and the origenal of that data.
2) Make the temp data do multi with the origenal
3) The temp should have all of the items that the origenal used to have.
4)Once you have your items back, save and exit. Then delete the temp that had your origenals items.
