This is a struggle especially when playing online. Compared to the offline storymode PSU Online is like WoW where money is important unlike the previous PSO. I am struggling trying to make money at lvl 10 (at the moment) and the drop rates of meseta are really bad and not high enough...
When you peeps played did you have to repeat the same quest over and over to lvl up higher? It sure does take a long time to lvl up compared to PSO.
Tips if you got any please i just bought a PSU account yesterday

Due to the lack of weapons that use money for extra strength... high abundances of meseta are no longer needed as fuel... instead... money is now used as it should be... to buy the things you need.
The easiest way I've heard of to get money online at the moment is repeatedly play boss quests as they reward the most money. Other than that... people are still thinking up "get rich quick" schemes.

Keep doing the Parum relics missiong, over, and over, and over, and over.
I can make about 3k from a solo C run.
EDIT: Mission SO has a G in it. >_>

just keep playing

buy only what you need, and use player shops for that, there are some pretty great. cheap ones around. 10 monomates for 100 or 500?
you'll start stocking up meseta for things in no time, and you'll get stronger, and wont need to spend as much on healing stuff too
Apologies to my fellow ragol.co.uk Teammates, i'm sorry for leaving you leaderless, and even more so for not getting back. but i wish you the best of luck in my absence! i miss you all!

I just did several runs of the RELICS one where i had to kill the large golom with a sword. Not bad at all i made 600+ each time with good points ontop. Some random player gave me 10k out of the blue so its not been so bad

It's hard starting out because you tend to hoard everything you can just in case it's important. Having said that, the following are rather common drops and you can flog them to an NPC as you go:
Linear Line (Furniture from Clyez missions)
Sunflower (Furniture from Parum missions)
Atomizer X (AoE drug, only really useful to heal your NPC if they're with you)
Trimates (if you're low level these are over kill cures)
Dimates (as above, you can usually get by with monomates)
Most 3* or less [B]boards (keep the Flourescent Bulb ones!)
Try and keep every weapon drop that you can, especially force and hunter weapons, for when you open a shop. These are used in massive quantities to feed Partner Machines so if you charge the right price they sell fast.
Whenever you want to buy something, search player shops for it rather than buy from a store. (But make sure you know the store price first before you buy it from a shop for 3 times that).
And finally, never, ever, attempt to grind a weapon unless you've got a backup in your inventory or the meseta to buy a replacement.

Just thought I'd point out something about your final tip there... if online is similar to offline is this fashion... it's possible to grind a weapon twice without any chance of failure. After that, the NPC reports the chance of success as either "Very High" or "High"... which I've seen break in both cases, so yeah... flawless grinding is always the most trustworthy. XD
