Hey. I've left my game on for a while now, just so I could get my beats up, cuz I play offline, and never get to find stuff at different times and stuff, cuz the beats restart. Is this a good idea? Or am I destroying the rainforests by running electricity? Does running electricity destroy rainforests? Or kittens? I don't hate kittens do i? :O

Beats are just another name for intenet time. People say these predict your drops on PSO I and II. Offline I think its just dictated by your GCs internal clock where as online its dictated by the server clock.
If you keep your game cube your total playing time will rise and I think that also plays a part in the calibur of rares you find.

Of course beats start. It goes from 000 to 999. This is also how the morning glory works. Its power rises as it gets closer to 999. My guess is, that if items power can be determined by beat time, then so can the odds of finding items.

i couldn't really say but i have found the longer i play the better the weopon i find y'know like when you hang around ruins on hard and take a slap in the face cause you just picked up 3 db's saber's in the same room but if you take your time and don't storm in like your dinner's gettin cold you tend to be graced with more unseen weapons.
anyway just do as i do when wastin time create some rare mags atleast
you will have acheived something and it was all worth the kittens an trees

I think you're all thinking too much. I've tested this, i messed with my interal clock to change the beat time every time i found a rare item, i would repeat it 5 times on the same beat to test, and i didnt get anything. I don't think it affects your drops at all. If it did, when you find one item it would be easy to find it again.

i just remember on one post, someone said that if you killed a hildebear on vhard, or ultimate, i can't remember, and the internet time was exactly 290 or something, you'd always get this one weapon, i can't remember it all now, i gotta go find it now

I found it, it was under the thread "Good Swords":
"I can tell you where to find a dragonslayer with skyly at the exact time!
Go to forrest 2 find a hildebear, and open your menu, check the time in the bottom right corner. When it says 528 and ik goes to 529 so that you in beat 529 kill the hildebear, it WILL drop the dragonslayer. For most consoles the beat start at 000 when you start playing, online the beat time is always good. If you have an xbox just set its clock on 20.28 which has a beat of 520 which gives you about 10 minutes to find a hildebear. Thats how i got mine dragonslayer!"

I'm clarifying for everybody that one beat is an international time unit. It's either one 100th or one 1000th of a day, I can't remember.
