I just recently got a dreamcast. I have heard that there are free servers to play PSO on for Dreamcast? can some one give a link for how to set it up?

sonic teams EU servers are free. you just need an EU copy of the game.

I believe ST has already shut down the Dreamcast servers hasn't it?

yes and no.
sonic team closed all servers a long time ago, however, they reopened the japanese and EU servers. they didnt reopen the US servers as they claimed it was where all the hackers originated. thats not entirely true as 2 of the biggest hacker clans were GUK *ganja uk* and a french one i cant remember.
i returned to PSO for a while to find that 99% of hackers had left the dreamcast version. amazing when you consider damn near every non japanese had 10 s rank spreads in the bank.
i returned to the cube version after a short time though cause thats where all my friends had moved too. *has been without PSO for months now cause of moving home and is suffering withdrawl symptoms*.
i think they were still running last time i checked.
and sorry if this is double,triple, or even quadrouple posted as im having problems staying connected to this site tonight.

To my knowledge, Sonic Team has yet to close down the European and Japanese servers for the SEGA Dreamcast versions of PSO. Although they have never updated the situations on the SEGA Dreamcast servers since the news i posted back over a year ago when they announced they were closing several of the Japanese servers.
Whether the remaining 2 JP servers and EU servers are still available or not is pretty much in my estimation doubtful, but if theres anyone who does still play on them, i'm interested to hear, not that i'm able to use them of course, just interested in general!
