Ok, this might seem a bit stupid, but it's been bugging me for a while - do Americans think of people in England as stuck-up, posh, tea-drinking cricketers with bad teeth? Do they think the England id in the slightest like Mary Poppins.
Ok, so I was watching Teen Titans yesterday, and if you watch it, you'll know what I mean, it was the second episode with Mad Mod. If not, then he's like a British supervillain lol. Anyway, he turns America into 'England' and all the way through they make jokes involving us drinking loads of tea and stuff like that. I actually found it funny but it got me thinking if that is what Americans really think of us or if it's just a joke. Then, I thought back to The Fairly Odd Parents, where they did the same thing, but worse. It had the works - the really gay accent, fox hunting, bad teeth etc etc. By this point I was getting paranoid so I went onto the urban dictionary and typed in 'british' (since most entries are by American people) and about half the definitions were straight insults.
So, to the point, I want to know from anyone who's American on this forum whether or not you actually think of us this way - being absolutely honest here, because sometimes people (not me, honest! ) speak badly of the USA over here.
Cheerio!

Nah I haven't, but yeah I get where you're coming from.
So I've got one person's conformation, only (dunno the number ) left to go!
I guess it's like when American people are shown as being fat and/or obnoxious here, which is not true for most people. The media is trying to turn us against each other!
I'd love to have what people from the US think our accents are like, it sounds so cool.

That was... not very helpful. It would have been if I was a woman though.

These types of issues all revolve around stereotypes, that's all. I'm a Canadian, but that certainly doesn't mean I'm some beaver-loving lumberjack that is only interested in polar bears and hockey.
I guess, to make a long story short, I tend not to hold any types of "grudges", per se, against different peoples.

Exactly. Stereotypes fuel these kinds of things! That and the people who are blind enough to believe them. If we could all just be Canadian and realize that Yes I did that on purpose >> But regardless, some people think that about the English, some think things about the US, they might be right, but not for the entire population. You also can't stop it. People just like to believe these things for some reason.

its because people have nothing better to do in their short meaningless lives other than stereotype others and watch stereotype type TV, like south park(which i hope burns in hell)

I hate to be the devil's advocate... but there IS a reason why stereotypes develop in the first place. Without a little bit of truth there a stereotype couldn't possibly exist.
Back on topic, I don't think of British as stuck-up, tea-drinking people at all. And I know that you certainly don't think of Americans as fat, lazy slobs who steal all of the world's resources (even though that last one is probably true).
