Quote:Purchased RP614 Web Safe Router. Configuration tool started to work once and then bombed out in the middle of the configuration. Pushed the reset button to reset to the factory settings. Didn't work. Tried numerous times and each time without success. Looked for support, only to find out they wanted to charge me an outlandish amount for tech assistance. Found an email address for support and they replied about a week later telling me no more than the very same startup information that came with the product. I sent them an email explaining that nothing worked they suggested and even used their trouble ticket number they gave me. No answer. I sent another email a week later....no answer. I sent a 3rd email explaining that I would like an RMA number...It has now been a month and still no response. I would NEVER purchase or recommend ANY NETGEAR purchase to anyone ....even my worst enemy. Buyer beware!!!
Quote:I bought this router in june 2004. Initail setup was easy and the Auto Setup feature worked a treat for my ISP. One week in and a lockup, this required a hard reset via the rear reset button + a Firmware upgrade. Since then I have had little trouble with it at all and we enjoy both good and reasonably private surfing. This router isn't perfect though, I discovered that it cant block all fragment attacks. Lukily thogh I runa software firewall inside of it . Another problem is the logging. It's logging is not very descriptive at all and not at all terribly helpfull in determining the type of attacks which are occuring. This product is realy suited to entry level at best.
Quote:I bought this router in Oct. 2003,I've had it for 7 months and was very happy with the performance, the durability is another thing altogether. I tried to unplug the router to reset it and the adapter was literally stuck in the female socket so I pulled on it rather hard to get it out and it finally let loose. When I plugged it back in I had no power until I pushed the plug very hard back into the female socket and then if I bumped it I had no power again. Obviously a faulty part but when I called support I was informed that it was my fault that it was not working correctly, I should have taken it back to my hardware vendor and had them pull the plug out so therefore I cannot return it as faulty. I told the woman that I was very dissapointed and would never buy another Netgear product again and she told me that "That is your choice sir, have a good day." I have never been treated like this by a reputable company before in my life. Be very careful when buying this or any other Netgear product. TERRIBLE SUPPORT AND CUSTOMER RELATIONS!

Hehe, i had a NETGEAR router & ADSL Modem (All in one thing) not too long ago, but the modem quickly burnt out and i went on a wild goose chase with BT and my ISP (Virgin.net) when in the end, it was a fault with the dam modem that cost me an eccentric amount of dough. I wouldnt really reccommend NETGEAR produce either to be honest. The wireless bit of it worked fine mind - Better something then nothing! lol
