*Anti-Virus Experts needed*

Well Im on my new computer...with no protection! LOL...If you think about that this is actually pretty serious...Anyways, can anyone reccomend a good anti virus for under $50 USD a year?

if your worried you have viruses on ur comp, get xoftspy. you have to find some of them manually, but most you can just search. more rewarding manually i find as well!

My old computer (very old) never ever ever had any anti-virus software, internet security software or anything like that, and never ever went wrong! Fucked up now though, but thats only because my sister always downloaded loads of sh*t that f**ked the whole thing up - But what i'm saying is that it's not really pretty serious.

The best antivirus is common sense; I've uninstalled Norton, which came with my comp, and it's the worst. =/ (Waste of memory.)

And Jarl, Xoftspy is for spyware, it's not the same.

I have Norton, and it's the most useless thing in the world.
Doesnt protect the PC at all, we got a Trojan the other week, and it failed to even notice something like that.

Essentially, no program is that great. Something is going to get by sooner or later before you program has the necessary stuff to detect the problem. It basically takes experience and a variety of programs for scanning and removal to effectively be protected. I have Norton Internet Security. It is alright for the support; however, most of the time, I am manually deleting things. I don't mind though since I get experience doing it . I also have Spysweeper which is alright. It is certainly more reliable than Norton since it auto removes everything for me instead of making me do it myself. I downloaded Hijack This as well, since it helps a spyware expert dignose what they are dealing with. There are many other programs out there that may suit your needs. You'll just have to do the necessary research to find out which you want.

Common sense stops this; I download nothing via P2P, and my security settings are v. high.

Not everyone is so....how should I say it.....smart? Really, it depends on what you use. Norton is one of those programs that the sentence I said applies to.
