it still comes on. i watch it all the time. i think the .hack games take place around the same time as .hack//sign, and the manga takes place four years after the 'twilight of the new gods'. which is, i think, the whole deal with kite in the game.

Yup. Unfortunately. It went from really cool to really stupid in about 30 minutes of playing. I also checked a bunch of reviews for the rest of the series and every critic said that it's one game's worth of stuff stretched (REALLY stretched) into a four game series. The average rating kept going down as I went further into the series. Part 4 had a 6.1 rating, which is just barely FAIR by their meter.
I had two of the games in the series. There is almost no difference between them. Trust me, if you plan to play the whole series, you'll get bored before you're done. I do like the idea of being able to import your save files between them, but they could have made improvements on each preceeding game instead of just keeping the same old stuff. Aside from that gimmick, nothing really makes this game stand out except the whole "online/real life" thing. Get Baldur's Gate instead. You'll have more fun.
I'm just glad I didn't pay for this game. It was worth it the first 20 hours or so, then it was all downhill. Worth renting at best, never worth buying.
I got all 4 installments and the series was preatty freakin' cool.
Well it was cool at first but seemed like the story was too drawn out and the characters were 2-dimensional. No depth. But hey, I'm glad you liked it. More .hack for you then. lol
Hack's series is a great game, I have Infection and Im going to buy the second part.
I suggest you borrow it from someone if you can. Always better to be able to borrow it and play it than to have to pay for it........

Most definitely, the series isn't worth buying and the video and game can be finished in a couple of days.
I went over to my cousin's and played his .Hack Infection, and I really liked it. Then again, I only played it for about an hour. I think I liked it because it was different... Then I found Morrowind, and I never looked back!
