Erina threw up her head and laughed out loud, with looks of atonishment from Melody and Lazuli.
"Fuck the beer! Chips and dips! We must eat!"
Soon all four FOnewearls where sitting in a circle, eating nachos and dip. Erina munched dantily, licking the dip from the nacho with a cat toungue, then gnawing at it prettily until nothing was left. Melody scooped scooped up dip and ate each one in two bites. Lazuli acted out little plays with her pieces, ending with the hapless snacks, screaming that fifty foot pink lizard was eating the whole city. But the rate at which Pleione eat suprised them all, chomping hers in one bite dip, and all.
And the nacho packet lay empty, and the dip tub a bereft ruin, licked clean of salsa. And the four FOnewearls clutched their stomachs.
"Too much, too much!" whimpered Erina.
"I am gonna puke!" Pleione moaned.
Melody pointed a finger to an empty room. "There is an old storage cuboard there. Put all the crap in the kitchen, plonk your shit in there. There is the a spare matress there, too. Don't worry, we will sort everything out tomorrow."
That night, as the citizens of Pioneer 2 settled into sleep, another awoke.
Across a vast expense of stars and nebula, in the womb of the planet called Ragol, under many miles of rock, a sigh escaped. It was hungry. It knew, understood, wanted, only one thing: Death. It trembled with longing, it lusted for the slaughter of all that lived. And it could feel life on the planet's surface, breath and heartbeats. It could feel the funtioning of countless billion cells and it was driven almost insane with desire. So close...and yet unreachable. In this tomb it must stay, unless, prehaps one of the beings probed a little bit too far?
Yes. The creatures were inspecting this world, it would not be too long, before they poked the veil apart. Not too long. Not too long.
