Baten Kaitos, in Europe.
I just saw the opening vid. I realized I had a clip of Baten Kaitos on this free gift of a dvd, but I never watched it since I thought it was months old, and only would have a crappy grainy japanese clip. I was quite impressed by the opening video, but some bits of it seemed to well, cheesy. That little waddling man seemed to much like a pantomime villain (espesh when he said: "End magnus? Never heard of it." God, I half expected someone to go "Oh yes you have!" "Oh no I haven't!") Some of the other dialogue sucked too.

But a fabulous opening scene. Namco do those, I suppose. Soul Calibur 2, Tales of Symphonia, and now Baten Kaitos. Shame it is the only flashy video in the game, I was looking foward to the facial expressions. I loved it when Xelha rolled her eyes at the fortune teller, nuzzled Meemai, made a lovey-dovey face at Kalas and fled from those pursuing guards. Nothing that detailed pops up in the real time cutscenes I trust? No lovely facial expressions.
Fuck no. You get the in game running-around models for cutscenes. What you saw was the beginning intro video, that's as pretty as it's going to get. Oh and the part where the voice goes "There are some things man must not mess with." and Kalas goes "Who cares!?" XP XP XP XP God the VO's suck0rz soooooooooo bad.
Kalas really should not fly so much. With all those lumpy clothes, he looks like a manic depressive pierrot commiting suicide. And Xelha's puffy pants make her ass look big. Plus she does not seem to bothered about the pervert frog that has taken up residence in her bra.

Seriously though, Baten Kaitos has got some of the biggest fashion mistakes for any RPG. Which is why it looks so fun to play.

FW only you would make a fashion connection. I saw your picture in the fourm members picture-thingy. Did you mother ever tell you, you need a haircut???

You think Kalas is bad.......listen to Gibari talk "They call this the Pit of Hell, my friend." XP god I could gag over the VO's.
I like my hair. I am the only person who has hair like it. Well, I got the scraggly bits snipped off, so now it looks like Xhela's, only a bit messier.

It's a shame, the voice acting was quite good in the movie, but it really seems to suck in the game. Why the voice actors only really seem to try in the opening movie? Lyude looks like he needs to be put in a padded cell, he looks to weird when he shouts. But I still cannot work out what Mizuti and Savyna are saying.
Mizuti never yells. I need to pick up the game again and start playing. But I still need to beat LOTR: the Third Age.
I picked up this game and (after turning off the voices) got very into it! 3 hours in already, I'm level 5 and in the first city. It's terrific! Just the kind of grand RPG I wanted (Tales of Symphonia is good, but a bit different, and Skies of Arcadia I have on Dreamcast). The design is superb for everything. The locations are truly stunning, and while the characters look a bit odd, they're certainly interesting. It's shaping up to be a magnificent game!
One thing that cannot be argued with is the hand painted backgrounds........done by the guy who did the backgrounds for Chrono Trigger.
I've got to the small fishing village now. All those purple clouds... it's just gorgeous! This is fasst becoming one of my favourite RPGs ever, and as I already missed the first boss's photo, I'll be happy to start again when I'm done!
