SEGA's Epic RPG Franchise Supports Xbox Live

SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON (April 19, 2006) – SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. today announced that Phantasy Star™ Universe will be available on the Xbox 360™. Scheduled for release in Fall 2006, the highly-anticipated role playing game (RPG) will release on multiple platforms including the PlayStation® 2 computer entertainment system and PC. Phantasy Star Universe offers two complete RPG experiences – a single-player action adventure spanning multiple planets, and a robust online multiplayer component that will support Xbox Live®.

Since its humble beginnings in 1988, Phantasy Star has revolutionized the RPG genre by creating new standards through innovative gameplay and online capability. Phantasy Star Universe offers a compelling story, both offline and online, that rebuilds the foundation of role-playing games with stunning cut scenes, sharply drawn personalities, and a cohesive narrative. This game revitalizes the Phantasy Star brand heritage while staying true to its roots.

"The reinvigoration of this beloved franchise on the Xbox 360 signifies another step for SEGA towards next-gen leadership," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Entertainment Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "Phantasy Star has a rich history, and now with Phantasy Star Universe in support of the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, gamers can enjoy a fantasy role-playing experience of unprecedented depth both online with their friends, and offline in the robust single-player game."

Developed by SEGA Studios, Phantasy Star Universe offers long-time fans the single-player experience they have been clamoring for. The solo adventure features more than 40 hours of gameplay, an emotionally engaging story, stunning cut scenes, and a strong cast of characters with very distinctive personalities. The title's hero is Ethan Waber, a 17-year old cadet who begins his epic journey by first rescuing his sister at the GUARDIANS, a colony under siege by mysterious life forms known as THE SEED.

In Online Mode, players are given the opportunity to create their own characters from a range of races, as they explore all three planets in the Gurhal system. Fans can travel with their friends as a squad of six adventurers, enter urban sprawls teeming with hundreds of other players, and build their avatars into powerful warriors.

Phantasy Star Universe will offer a rich and constantly evolving world that will provide months of entertainment to fans of the series and RPG enthusiasts. The game is slated to ship in Fall 2006.

Key Product Features:

• Epic Story: Phantasy Star Universe offers a suspenseful single player adventure that fans have been clamoring for.
• Phantasy Star Brand Heritage: Since 1988, the franchise has evolved, and produced seven series to date – building itself as one of the most well established RPG franchises.
• Real-time battles where players choose their own strategies: Choose from over 200 weapon variations in over 20 weapon categories for melee, technique, or ranged-type combat. Players can also select numerous Photon Arts to defeat enemies.
• World Class Score: Soundtrack produced by premier orchestras and vocals from Poland, Hollywood, and New York.
• Online Gameplay: Offering the Best of Both Worlds
- Multiplayer: Create a squad of up to six players to explore the universe and conquer quests.
- Endless gameplay: In addition to over 40 hours of offline gameplay, gamers can spend endless hours online customizing characters, searching for rare items, leveling up, and joining friends for exhilarating new quests.
• Variety in transportation: Player-controlled vehicles offer a new type of gameplay for the Phantasy Star franchise.
• Character Customization: Go beyond standard customization for your character with precise measurements, an endless color palette, and outlandish outfits.
• Massive enemies: Over 20 unique enemy species, totaling over 200 enemy variations.

Even though i only post here once in a blue moon i had to share this with everyone here. Im definetly getting a 360 now, so glad PSU is coming to the 360! Woot!

He also states the game will be free instead of using the Hunters License system that Phantasy Star Online has always utilised, and will be a free download for Xbox Live Gold Members. This is a little drawing i made almost 5 years ago... I wish i had time to get back to drawing again... This is Lokin Modar and his Sword. He is the main char form a story i'm writing since 1998...Smile

Lee-yoshi Wrote:Cool drawing bud - Based on the Phantasy Star series instead of PSO?

err... Actually its was not related to PSO or the ol'PS series... Not when i did it. But now that i have full knowledge that PSO is the game of my life, i've been planning the game based upon the manga and anime series (megalomaniac me ^^!) and it will definitely have the PSO "chassis" (if you know what i mean...). Maybe when i'm a successful game producer you'll help me out on bug tracking and in the game evaluation as well... The story for the series is getting bigger and bigger in my head...Tongue

NthoozD Wrote:Maybe If I eat it fast enough I could retain some of your talent!??

IF YOU HAVE MORE POST THEM I EOULD LOVE TO SEE"EM!!!Smile

One more. Lokin's sister. Nadrielle! Are these images too big? If they are, let me know, OK?

NthoozD Wrote:I like how you draw like classic anime like Nadia Blue water. I think its a great size pic, though I don't know this sites restrictions by heart. Keep posting pics of you have more!!!Tongue

Poo Fly Wrote:My threads been Hijacked! Tongue

those are pretty cool! love those weapon designs :3

Lee-yoshi Wrote:Hehe, ace work Lokin, definately looks as if it's taken from the old Phantasy Star series, reminds me of that kinda artwork - Keep it coming. Although maybe you could put it in a new thread, poor Poo Fly TongueTongueTongue

Sounds like an interesting series too Wink

i'll do that. I did not mean to ruin the thread. I was just afraid that this could go offtopic, because it's not completely related to PS... But Thx for the comments! I did not know that the drawings were that good ^^!

And moved! ^^!

Hi Everyone who reads this!! I don't know if this topic has already been posted but even if it has, "SO WHAT!", but I just wanted you fine people to share your first memorable online Experiences, or Experiences that just gave you a positive attitude towards the game!Tongue

For Example: It was my first time online, I had no IDEA what to expect, when it came to other people and their playing styles, but since I was so eager to learn, i quickly joined a game but didn't really like the people I was in the room with so I left and started my own room. I don't know how long i played for, but it had to be atleast 4 in the morning. So I abort my Reclusive game and go to the lobby my bro told me to go to before he went to sleep, and there was one person in the lobby, just sitting there turning "thier" chair around, and back, around, and back. So I said let's give this a shot :"Hey, sup!" I, said " NM " they, said "wanna do a game?" I, said feeling proud of myself for blurting it out so effortlessly "SURE!" they, said, and then they said something that I so ironically use often to this day "TTF?" said the chat bubble that popped up on my screen. Shamelessly I say "???" They say "NM just join the game and I'll show U" I, said "K" So then They walk up to the counter...and dissapear, I thought to myself "this is WAY better than offline". So I walk up to the counter and see this mysterious persons Level, whoever this person was they completely overshadowed my measely level 43 with thier level 163!!! I thought geez!! I still haven't beaten NORMAL OFFLN YET!! (being a Hucast I'm sure you can understand) I mean before this mysterious person I probably never would have known what S&D was, and meant!!! LOL BEcause when my PB charged up all the way I thought those red& blue lights were just indicators!!! Well anyway before you guys get tired of reading: So we started the TTf which suprisingly went very well without me losing all my HP!!(OH in case you want to know this character was a Fomar named something like WingedProphet or something I don't remember!) So We make it to the caves on Vhard and this Pan Arms pops up. The force bludgen the poor monster to death with the lightning shaped wand thing (SOaG) and AHH A RED BOX!!! I say" OMG!! WTF is THAT!!?" They, say "LOL" , "A special weapon" I, say "No Kidding its got a red BOX!!" They say "OH!! Its a Pan Arms YOU can have it" I'm dumbstruck at this time and manage to tipe something like"THXZU" After the game I then swapped guild cards with this person and saved, and quit, but I had to research this mysterious Pan Arms? And that's also the day I found this website!!! So if there weren't people like that online I probably would'nt be posting this story right now!!! Which is why I try and strive to be"THAT" Mysterious person who aids the helpless with thier first TTF, or thier first "SPECIAL WEAPON"
