Yes it's me, the self-proclaimed newb here to write a condescending guide to get you uppity folks.
We're going to start this off by considering what it's like in the mind of the game developer from the start. Having done game developement in my past, I can give you a pretty well educated guess on what the devs of PSO were thinking.

"If we are to make various character types, all must be equal. Maybe not the same, but equal. If one rates a 20 in tech, and another rates 10 in tech, the other must also rate 10 in something else to balance the equation". In summary, that's how it worked. If one is to add up the capabilities of any one character of PSO, they are spot on equal to those of all the others. If one was better, what would be the point in making the other characters? None. No one would want to be that other character. Everyone would be the same char and it'd be incredibily monotonous, thus killing the game's appeal altogether.

So now we know that it's a matter of preference. If you want to compare one character to another to get an opinion on which you should be, don't ask "Which is better between these two?" Because the only thing that the wise or reasonable people around will say is "Neither is better all around. They're equal."
Sure, you'll have goons that like to say "No way, my type of character is the cat's pajamas." That's fabulous, ya rodcompoop.
Instead, if you're looking for an opinion, here's a start. Ask:
"These are my preferences. I like to do magic, a lot, and I don't really care much to do gunning or fighting. Hoping to use a male. What's best for me among the forces?"

Everyone can give you one good solid whopping opinion on that. There's your guide. Now, someone can play off of this (someone that knows more stats than I) and state what characters are better for what preferences. mmm k?

This is my first post here and it's not a happy one...
My mother and me (yep it may sound weird but we are a gamer-family ) are playing PSO Ep.1&2 on GC almost since it was released in Japan. We made all that exchange stuff like 1.0 -> 1.1 -> Plus and put lots and lots of money and time into the game as we are still very addicted to it We have a very nice legit community and everything could be so nice...
Well, 2 days ago, my mum lost her favourite charas... The old 251 block memory card finally crashed after not being recognized several times during the last weeks. The Cube didn't recognize it now, she tried everything... And finally, with all those confusing japanese warnings etc. she chose "Yes" and the Memory Card was formatted... now the following characters are gone: a RAmar (lvl.113..well, he doesn't actually matter ^^; ), a RAcast (lvl.145..That's sad enough), a HUcast (lvl.173) and a FOmarl (lvl.197, just got full with TP mats).
I guess everything can imagine how we feel...
I'm posting this here because we wondered if there may be any option to somehow..well.. "revive" our charas because about 3000 hours of fun, work, and many experiences died with them and it's quite a big loss.
I think my intention is clear now, isn't it? Normally, I detest cheating etc. but in this case I wonder if there may be some codes for increasing levels for the japanese 1.1 or PLUS version. I do not mean to harm anyone, I just want our charas back ><
Well, if anyone has an idea if suchs codes exist (a friend kept searching for 4 hours and he didn't find anything for the japanese game), maybe you could PM me or email me. I don't want to break the rules of this board, I'm not asking for codes to be posted here, I'm just sad and trying to somehow get back what I lost because of the mistakes of Sonic Team -_-;
I hope I didn't bother anyone with this post, I just need help...

I started thinking about this question after reading UK Jester's sig. Does Nintendo Really Need a Miracle? I have to admit, their popularity is declining, but they still have many loyal fans (including myself) to support them. The biggest threat I can see is Microsoft. While they may have money on their side, no one can argue that they can compare to the creativity of Nintendo and their top man Shigeru Miyamoto!
I have a feeling that Nintendo has a few tricks up their sleeve...

I have a passion for drawing, but I tend to compare myself to other people (especially one of my close friends who is a prodigy) and get frustrated. This summer I got excited to take art classes in college, but with my current major, it is just not possible to take them. Any advise? Also, if there are any good websites that have examples or tutorials of portraiture or people in poses (real people, anime style, or etc.) please give me the addres.

Ok well, I have a character now who's 2/3 of the way through cmode... about 4'09 ahead of the cumulative clear times. Originally I wasn't sure of what S-Rank to go for... but I already figured a few things:

• I will eventually have rare twin sabers for all of my 4 hunters. I'm still working on piping Syncestas for Double Cannon (but this is just a matter of time), I own one 30 hit Cudgel that will go to my HUcast once my HUmar's through with it, and I have a BKB on my HUnewearl already (this leaves my HUcaseal, but I'll find her a PoL or something later). So my hunters do not need srank twins.
  
• All three of my rangers currently use Spread Needles, so I have little use for an srank shot... I'd love to get them srank needles, but those are harder to get since they're in ep2. So if I got my rangers anything, I might get them twins with berserk or something. Maybe if I finish cmode with my FO, that's what I'll get.
  
• What my hunters need most is decent crowd control weapons. I have one 30 hit Red Partisan and one 25 hit Chainsawd... this covers only 2 of the 3 hunters who would really need such weapons (my HUnewearl uses a Soul Banish currently, but without hit).
  

I have a level 29 FOmar aptly named Tonks and I am having a bunch of trouble in normal Ruins (yeh I know puny) I dont have THAT much trouble with the monsters, but I'm draining TP like crazy just handling the monsters, and they still
seem to whack me around pretty easy, I dont have any easy quests left (Letter from Lionel, 1000 monster kill deathwish, and Seek My Master.) so could someone reccomend a place to train, and to what level, I dont have online yet so I cant go in with a group, Thanks in advance for help.
