What am I doing wrong???

OK, I cheated slightly with her. I just kept making CASTs and dumping their parts in the common box, then when I had passed 100 through to the character (32 at a time) I fed the whole lot in one go. Took about 5 days to get her to level 100 and alot of work to get the CAST parts. It's the only one you can make for free, just a bit of time gettin the parts.

As for success rates I've just read that. For every 5 levels on your PM, she gets a 1% increased success chance in the chosen field.

level 100 Armour gives a 20% higher chance of success in creating armour
level 80 Striking and 20 TECH gives a 16% higher chance of success in creating "swords/striking" and 4% for "wands/casting"

I've tried making low level armour and she even fails at that. Have to keep a record and see if there is a trend, say every 2 out of 4 fail for example.

Where do you get your info on synching?
I'm wondering if your character's level has any impact. Offline, twice now, I've tried to make a Vullseye back when my character was in the low 20's. Both times it said it was successful but I ended up with a blaster from the Vulseye cards!!:S :S . Which means I pretty much broke even cost wise.

I've noticed this sort of problem before. My advice is to just try what you can afford to lose. That way you don't really lose anything if it goes wrong.

Your character level as far as I've read, makes no difference to any synth.

What level is your PM under each cat
what are you putting in the ??? if there is one

I'm gonna keep searchin the net, someone somewhere must have a good guide to the whys and wherefores of synth'in'

In the offline mode, I really haven't been leveling my PM- basically just working from time to time to finish the RPG so I'm understanding these Guardian Missions that are coming out. So my PM is something like level 2, lol. It's was jusyt surprising that the item didn't match the card, although it was the same type of weapon at a lower level.

Online My PM is at 62. Only 2 tech, 10 strike, and he rest split between Range and Armor. Cute little GH 303. I've never had any item come out something other than the card says online, only offline. Made 4 Vullseyes with no problem.

Alternate items like that are often formed when putting in lower-grade items than the weapon itself. An example of this... the Granarod board offline... if you use anything other than Kerseline in the ??? slot, it'll come out a Slyrod (when successfuly), instead of the Granarod. That's why it's always safest to put in materials that are equal in star-rarity to the item you're trying to produce. If you can't, then just put in as high as is possible... that's what I've made sense of synthesizing from my minor experience with it. I try to dig into the mechanics of these thinks and make hypothesises around what I've seen, they seem to be accurate so far.

I can't positively swear to it, but I'm fairly confident that I used different items under the ??? and one had a higher star level than the other- but same result. I think I was going for the highest chance of success, so they mat have still been lower in stars than the weapon. This was done a few chapters back and I've since just bought the weapons straight out.
