...If I buy a wii...
#11
Yeah, but I've already got a DS ^_^ And I don't need to spend the same amount of money that I could on a game on a meaningless cable I could only use for 2-3 games tops.

Still. Forcing people to buy peripherals is completely stupid. It's why home lightgun games sell really poorly, and the 64DD died before it was even born.

Metaphorically speaking.

Mm, the only games the required peripherals that sold well were the ones that were sold with the peripherals required. Guitar Hero has apparently sold very well, because it's mainly bought in conjunction with the control system required for it.

Yeah, but for stuff like Crystal Chronicle, I was the only one with a gamecube, yet my mates were all Final Fantasy fans. With ps2s. So they wouldn't wanna go out and buy cables and GBAs. It's kinda silly. And I wouldn't wanna spend £300+ extra, and then have 3 GBAs and nothing to do with them.

The only good peripheral, that was optional, in the history of gaming, was the Xbox Controller S.

And Guitar Hero is just WIN.

But for multiplayer (if it has it, I don't know,) are you really gonna go out and buy 2-3 more guitars?

Mm, I wouldn't. But it isn't really a multiplayer-orientated game in the first place. The problem at the end boils down to if you're prepared to buy the extras or not.

For the question at hand... online GCN games require the adapter that allows for a wired internet connection to work on the Revo. This is not Nintendo's fault... PSO simply does NOT like wireless connections. Even on the GCN, a special adapter other than the modem or broadband adapter was needed for wireless connections.

So basically... it works exactly the same... you just need to get another adapter... which I find kinda annoying because most people don't use wireless internet.

WOA! stop right there!!!
The reason the BBA and modem adapter didn't have inbuilt wireless is because of the technological limitations.
Firstly, space. Even now you can't get a wireless bridge smaller than the BBA. Also, you'd have to fit the BBA hardware in with the wireless hardware, else it wouldn't fit.
Secondly, bear in mind that the BBA was released 2002/2003. You said "most people don't use wireless internet". If that is now, what was it like then? about 0.5% of the people buying a BBA would have used this feature at the time of it's release, and it would have upped the price by at least $80.

Next time you're walking around a museum, take a second to realise you're not going "haha, my computer nowadays is better than the one the US used in 1986", but you're going "wow, the computer used in 1986 really did do what they wanted it to".
Sure, you can look back on the BBA now, and go "haha, what a piece of crap! it was released 4 years ago, is smaller than a childs' shoe, and doesn't have a wireless bridge!! and it didn't cost more than $50!!! what were they thinking? but really, it makes no sense to. The BBA did what it was designed to do then. Now, technology has moved on, and the BBA is not as effective as it could be. Who's fault is that? Even if ninty had stuck a wireless adapter on their BBA, by now (when wireless is becoming fairly common) they'd probably all be broken.

Also, you mentioned PSO dislikes wireless connections. That is simply not true- a good wireless connection is exactly the same as a good cabled connection, just alot more expensive and without wires. A computer/GC/whatever can tell no difference.

Gaze Wrote:That whole thing with the GBA was a bit pointless. Yet I think it'll be the same with the DS personally. Since it has the same kind of techniques, and the new Crystal Chronicles game, it's pretty obvious multiplayer with that will require two or more DS consoles. So multiplayer with that will need you to play I think £95 for a DS.

Ah, but, see, if you have friends with DS's of their own, you don't need to shell out ANYTHING extra. Besides, I doubt the DS will link with the Wii for that, tbh. Unless Crystal Chronicles DS and Wii can connect.

Yeah, the DS will link with the Wii, otherwise they're missing out on the awesomeness of two screens and touch screen, all wireless! >_>

I really hope nintendo doesn't make the next crystal cronicals like the first. That was the only final fantasy game I refused to play because of that:'( .
