Well it all depends on the condision of the game disk. If it's scratched up then it could fsod.

i have played mine so much its got scratches EVERYWHERE, it has only FSOD'd once
and to answer your question K_I_R_E_E_K, the only time i have noticed it saving is when i finish a quest or quit
