Luckily, even on Ultimate the only thing he does that kills my FOmar are his physical hits, I survive his grants with about 1/4 of my HP intact (which is pretty good for the low defense a Force has).

the defense stat has nothing to do with how much damage you take from magic, your magic resistance does.

I know that, I have all resistances at about 25 or 30 right now because of spirit garment and attribute wall.

cool thats pretty high, ihave 30 on fire ice and thunder and 25 on light/dark.

gal gryffon is all too easy but level12-14 is pretty good on normal.
