Is there anyway to stop the view from disappearing when you walk up to a locked door and are fighting of the enemies?

No. But you shouldn't be standing with your back to the door hehehe . You can always face the door, tap L (or R) and shift the camera to the centre of the room. You can then fight towards the camera .

thanks for the hint, i've gone all the way to the mines in ultimate mode with out nowing this, sadly i've died alot because of this.
