I find Mechs very useful for Hunters, but all in all, most of my characters use bladed weapons, from the Double Saber and Elysion for my FOmar, to the S-Beat's Blades or Soul Eater for my RAcaseal.

guns because you can hit without getting it
and if you get hit so what, using blades puts you in more danger
for killing bosses is also great
ex with blades you need to wait dark falz to lower the dragons head and in 2nd form (ultimate is worse) he runs very fast so using a gun can easily pass these problems.
