transferring characters, is it possible?

in offline mode, i was wondering, is it possible to transfer a character accross memory cards? i think, you need 3 memory cards, put 1 into slot a, 2 into b, transfer character from 2 onto 1, put 3 into slot b, transfer character onto 2 which you just put into slot a, then put 1 in a, 3 in b and cancell the transferred status, then you should have transferred the data from 2 to 3. does this work? or will it give me an error/ corrupt my memory card (eek!!)
