I've been a long time Nintendo Fan and I must put my insignificant newb opinion here.
I got my first taste of gaming around 1990 when I came back to America. (My father worked at the US embassy in Lesthoto ...look at a map of Africa-go to the southern point, brilliantly labeled "South Africa" and there should be a tiny dot labeling this miniscule country)
I was given an NES as a gift from a friend of my Dad's and my life has never been the same. I only had three games. Blaster Master, Super Mario Brothers, and Pac-Man. Life has never been the same for me since.
I was surprised at the release of the Super NES (I was pretty young and things like this were new to me) but eventually I got one and armed with a copy of "Super Mario All-Stars" I became a true "addict".
when News of the new "Ultra 64" began spreading-I was old enough to know what everything meant- and I began preparing for its release. Super Mario 64, Ocerina of Time, and Super Smash Brothers are still on the list of my top favorites.
"Project Dolphin"...anyone remember that name? I was a true Nintendo loyalist at the time :: My logic? they had never let me down. I saved up my allowance in advance for MONTHS before the release date in preparation. When It finally came out-I lacked sufficient funds for games. but it didn't matter. I had the most powerfull gaming system ever in my possesion; and when I finally GOT a game I was completely BLOWN away! Super Smash Brothers Melee. I was so awed by its graphics, sound, and power I had to keep taking breaks because I kept getting shaky and tired. I was blown completely out of my socks and I have NEVER looked back. (except for re-releases of some of my favorite games I enjoyed as a little kid. Ahh the memories.)
If you have had the patience to read through this post (and the spelling errors) you will realize that I am a Die-Hard, Loyalist, patiriotic Nintendo Fan. And it saddens me to see my poor little friend doing this poorly in the videogame industry. I KNOW the "Revolution" will blow me away again. and I am hoping that this will bring Nintendo back on top. I am looking foreward (and saving money) for when the day finally comes. NINTENDO HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN!!!
