First of all, hi, I'm Sariana and I'm (quite obviously 
) new to the forums.
Second of all, I dunno...I have a pretty high luck rating with my RAmar, and on his game alone I've gotten a total 15 Photon Drops, not to mention several rares. Of course, it might have something to do with his Section ID; I've heard that Purplenums get a lot of rares.
As for the critical hit thing, I've never heard that, but it seems like a few others have, so I won't question that. I'm just saying that from my personal experience, I've gotten more rares, Drops, and a few enemy parts due to a high luck rating than I did when I first started his game and had a crap luck rating.
The Megid thing...again, I'm not sure. I've had some instances where Ob Lillies can Megid at me till they're blue in the face, and it doesn't affect me. Other times I get hit once, and I'm dead.
So, I think that ideas 1 -3 from the first post are valid, and that 4 and 5 are just rumors. 'Course, I don't know for sure.
