Unlike Arrogantelf, we don't let our kids play or watch what they want but this is because we view that they arn't ready to watch or play violent products yet without them deciding to act out the most violent scenes on each other - but having said that, my sister-in-law has a 16 year old son who has been playing/watching whatever he wants since about 12, but he is the mellowest teenager I've ever met.
I agree with Arrogantelf, children are more likely to have personal issues starting from home or personal enviroment issues (i.e. bullying at school). However I do despair at the parents who leave their childrens social education solely upto Television and games; as parents we have to be a part of our kids lives even when they start treating us as uncool old hasbeens.

I agree with you, Jester, it is soul-destroying to see and personally witness just how many children are left in front of the "babysitter" these days. These poor buggers do not get much of a chance for a bit of social developement or any interaction with humans lol and true true, kids do and always have acted out what they have seen on tv, movies and games. I guess it is common sense that dictates how a parent censores what their kids get to see/play and also how well a parent actually knows their child/children. I for one can happily let my 12 and 14 year olds watch most of the 18 rated films because i understand that my kids aren't daft enough to go and start trying to knife everyone they meet or go up to a stranger and give them hassle etc etc etc. They understand a film is a film, a game is a game and that reality is reality. Actions and consequences- a great lesson to teach all.
I must just point out i watch all 18 films without my kids present first to deem wether or not i should allow them to see said film. As for the bad language used in film and games, i'm afraid to say it's cultural now however much it's use is disliked. Heard a playground lately...........?
