I won't get into specifics, but EV's (stand for Effort Values) are part of a secret statistic in the game that decides if your Pokemon is badass, or weak as hell. Depending on how you spread out the points, say, a level 100 Absol, could pwn an 00ber legendary such as a level 100 Mewtwo. Basically, every Pokemon you can fight in the game is given a specific value, (1 or 2) and those are EV points. Using certain items (Macho Brace is a must, Macho Brace and the Pokerus virus is highly encouraged [even if you only have a 1/24000 chance to get the virus[[which I did get in my Ruby version
]] ] ) YOu can double the number of EV's you get. Now for a real example, Pidgey is assinged 1 Speed EV, with a Macho Brace (that doubles the EV's you earn) it becomes 2. To add one stat point to your Pokemon you need 4 EV's. So with the Macho Brace 2 Pidgeys will give you one stat point to Speed when you level up. You do that a lot of times, you get a lot of stat points.
