Here's a nasty nasty idea - try using combos. (Not Combo, but combos.)
I'm a big fan of Magic: the Gathering, and my favourite kind of deck is the combo deck - which wins by connecting a bunch of cards that utterly annihilate my opponent (generally rather quickly too).
Basically, you can find incredibly fun ways of interacting cards. For example:
Morfos / Pan Arms + Madness - you can deal the 2 damage to all equipped items without harming your own guy. If the Madness hits an Action Disrupter (such as a Kaldabolg) then the card itself disappears, and you end up physically attacking everything you targeted. But since you've not got Ripple any more, you don't harm your own guys. I'm looking for a creature with Action Disrupter that costs 3 or less.
Any card with Death Companion (such as Canane or Baranz Launcher) + Survival - your card goes down to one life, which triggers the Death Companion. Both cards die. This doesn't work against Story Characters, but it does get rid of huge guys (such as Delbiters or the like) very quickly.
That's about all of the combos I can remember - but in order to draw them, consider finding a set of Rich cards. And draw lots and lots.
Oh, and if you just want to win, be an arse and spam with Arkz. Your brother will hate you for it, but who cares? Using literally tons of one point creatures and possibly annoying Assist cards like Skip Move you can stop your brother getting close. Use this with Rio to deal lots of damage later on in the game.
My personal deck preference is the frustratingly good technique deck I use. Lots of cheap techniques, Al Rappies (possibly the best creature in the game, in my opinion) and the trump cards - Chaos (or Gran) Sorcerer.
One final point - if your brother relies on Aegis Guard (cool if only because of the picture) then don't use any purple or blue attacks. Likewise with Cancel. Stick to the basic red and yellow. Weapons and techs. This does mean that a lot of special attacks won't be available, but what's the harm in deadening 10% of your brother's deck?
