Maybe it's worse on v2. On GC it's entirely possible to melee them. I'd agree mines is not a HU paradise, but depending on the class, there are options. The non-droids get Jellen and Zalure to use on them, after which they can try a slicer (not really meleeing, but... yeah Tongue). Droids can just use freeze traps and then hack away with a powerful sword.

But in single mode, there's really no crime in using powerful mechs anyway (at least in mines). Tongue
