I don't want to spam the Item DB with my characters, so here's your chance to really get involved with the Database, by sending in your images.
Images I would really like - Weapon images, images of Units or Armor with visible effects (including but not limited to SUV Units), or any image that has some visible element.
Don't bother with images showing the stats of an item or whatever at the moment, that's what the rest of the page is for. If other staff members feel we should accept these then that's cool, I just don't think it's necessary =P
I would prefer to have the full .bmp file sent to me or hosted. If you cannot host a full .bmp without it being resized, mail it to me at [email protected], or convert it yourself - preferably to png format, as jpg is too low-quality. If you do decide to convert and crop, the resulting file must be no more than 500kb in size.
Here are a few basic guidelines (that I totally didn't rip and adapt from Hrith's topic asking for PSO items on the official boards):
* PC pictures only, I doubt very much the quality of PS2/XBOX360 pictures will be worth it. Feel free to prove me wrong if you really, really, think they are though (and have a decent method of capturing images).
* 1024x768 minimum resolution at medium settings at least. Make sure post-effects are turned ON.
* Each item has only one slot for an image, so make it a good one. It must show the subject of the image clearly - the HUD musn't get in the way. I won't tell you what makes a good image, I'm sure most of you can figure that out easily enough on your own. One good picture is worth more than a million bad ones.
* Credit will be given for the image. If you wish to be credited under a different name do tell me... otherwise I will use your forum account name.
* You should only have the item equipped and nothing else if possible. The point of the image is to show the item in question and nothing else that would distract from it. This includes your character - make the item the main focus, not the character.
* If getting a weapon image, do manipulate the camera in order to get a better view of the weapon. Going up to a wall and rotating the camera often helps to get a nice, zoomed-in view of the weapon.
This is what I, personally, consider to be a decent weapon picture. But you can do better than that ;o
I will naturally accept images for weapons that are not currently in the database, but I won't make a database entry just to show your image, so don't be offended if I don't add your image right away.
Finally, submitting an image doesn't mean it will be used, but if it's good then you stand a good chance, and it's not like there's a shortage of items that requires pictures. Hop to it!
