Why is PSO still unmatched in greatness?

ive played PSO since the DC days.
I remember looking for ver.2 with my dad when i was younger, then i went and bought myself a GC when i knew EP1&2 was gonna be on that, played that to death and when i heard news of phantasy star on 360...well it made up my mind about my next gen console to get (i will get Wii aswell hopefully).
So when i look at it, pso has been a big part of my life, i bought my first copy (PSO V.1 DC) when i was 14 i think, year 9 at school i was and im now 20 years old about to invest in the next copy of what was and still is a fantastic game.
