Why would they need to keep using it? Bah. This game is silly.Simple. The races have developed a dependancy on A-Photon reactors. Regular photon reactors do not possess enough energy production to keep things like the Guardians Colony working, they simply can't switch back because they've already gone too far with A-Photon production. The only alternative is finding a safer energy source with the same, or more power output. (I believe they made statements similar to this during the game at one point or another.)
There are still some plot holes within the story, but those will be explained through the online-mode continuation I've no doubt.
The two deaths in this story I can't say hit me at all... I couldn't really have much sympathy for Lou due to the fact that there's at least 256 of them, and they're all exactly the same... they even know all the same things, and act the same way... it's downright disturbing. Cats have 9 lives... Lou has hundreds.
Mirei's death on the other hand was a bit too cliched for me to care all that much... it's a similar scenario that's been spat at us time and time again by movies, dramas, other games, etc. It's as cliched as Ethan and Karen's love.
They've even got the sappy love scene at the very end just to finish the common cliche. Call me heartless all you want, I just couldn't care about either. (Reigast put it nicely with the "Newmans made of paper" comment. XD It's truly pathetic.) Oh... one last little negative comment about Mirei... I MIGHT have felt maybe the slightest bit for her if it wasn't for all the "Divine Maiden" this and "Divine Maiden" that... yack yack yack Maiden Maiden Maiden... I wanted to vomit from any and all story plots connected to the "Divine Maiden" because it was truly pathetic. As for the Chaos Sorceror type enemies... "Ethan Wanker" is quite useless in the SEED Hive if you don't level him significantly... XD I found getting through there infintely simpler with my female Beast. The easiest thing to do with the buggers is bonk them out of the way with Rising Crush or something, then immediately annihilate the smaller enemies, continually knocking down the sorceror when needed. Just don't hold still too long, or a ball of SOMETHING is bound to hit you at some point.

Chapter 12 was also the only chapter that gave me some heat... it was a bit of a chellenge since I was only level 52 at the time, but thanks to another completely unexpected appearance by Bruce (that man creeps me out with how he always finds a way to where I am. XD), it was easily dealt with. What was Sega thinking when they made the last boss anyways? That fight's such a push-over it was barely worth my time. I wanted something more difficult and more creative!
I think that concludes a lengthy post by me... XD
