Yeah, I sorta realized, you should probably know about the actual Gundam series before watching the OAV series, whoops. It's kinda like tossing someone into Gundam W: Endless Waltz without seeing the original series. Whoops.
I forgot what happens in the first episode of 08TH MS Team. I think it had a naked chick in it...
Regardless, realism and Gundam go very well, actually. The other series hardly ever had so much as a damaged gundam for more than 5 minutes. It either exploded, or it was in perfecf condition. Missing an arm? Don't worry, that shiny white ship you're working for will have it fixed by next episode.
It gets old. This shows Gundam from the real soldiers point of view, a much more grueling, less idolized war. It's not a story following the war heroes, Shiro's a pretty average guy, LOL.
There's no shiny ship, there's no little hallucinogen seeds going off in peoples skulls, there's no 3 second repairs. And it's not Mecha DBZ.
Zeon and the Feds were both at stalemates for a while for a reason.
